Ah, the loveliness of Hollywood gossip and rumors…
Earlier this week, Ain’t It Cool News picked up on a story from the German edition of GQ where Matthias Schweighöfer (Valkyrie) was interviewed and revealed that he was in the running for a role in Thor. The most interesting part of the story is that Matthias also said Robert De Niro and Jude Law had already been cast – something no one had heard about up until that point, not even rumored about.
Now comes reports from some sites saying that it’s all false. What to believe?

The folks at the rumor-control website, Gossip Cop, apparently got in touch with a representative of Jude Law who said there’s no truth to his involvement with the upcoming Marvel Studios production of Thor. They also claim that after making some calls, De Niro is not involved at all.
My thoughts: Don’t jump one way or another – wait until we hear something official, there’s more casting still to come and hearing the other day Dominic Cooper was reading for the role of Fandral of “The Warrior’s Three.” Since it seems those three characters are in the flick, we need three more actors to join the growing-in-awesomeness cast.
What do you think about De Niro and Law’s possible involvement and who do you think should be cast as Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg?

I think that along with cooper, these three are all the Warrior’s Three
Are we being tricked? It’s not April.
Maybe they want to try and keep it a secret about them being in it, imagine if you went to the cinema and had no idea De Niro was in it, that would be an awesome surprise.
ya i think its kinda a shame they cant hide anything from us anymore theres to many ways for us to find out. It seems very hard these days to keep a secret until the movie comes out. That would be awsome if de niro showed up outanowhere.
I don’t know if there’s any truth to the rumor but I can certainly see them both signing up for the movie if asked.
De Niro’s past his prime, and has ventured lately into movies you wouldn’t think he’d go far (Machete), so I could see him being interested in a superhero flick. And since this one is being directed by an established director, that’s all the more reason he might be interested.
For Law, the guy’s trying to get a comeback. Sherlock Holmes is looking to be in the same vain as a superhero flick, so I see no reason why’d be against a nice role in a Marvel movie.
I NEVER believed this rumor.
Remember , the rumor is that an actor who is not yet cast says that Jude Law And Robert Deniro are in the film .
Does that make sense?
Would an actor not officially affiliated with the the film know who was involved?
I think they would rule!
DeNiro and Law, I still hope it happens
I actually hope DeNiro isn’t in the movie. I fear his presence would spoil it, he is a very good actor in particular roles but I don’t see him fitting into a superhero movie.
Just my opinion fwiw, no need to bite.
It makes perfect sense for Deniro to be in the movie in “Midgard”(Earth). Deniro as some kind of agent or detective trying to investigate and follow Dr.Donald Blake around or to find out more about Thor makes perfect sense with Nick Fury in between. Sort of like the guy who stalked and chased after Dr.Banner in “The Hulk” T.V series. As far as Jude Law,he’d be perfect to play “Fandral” if Branagh does a young “Warriors Three” if not then he’d be the right pick for “Balder The Brave”. I personally would like to see a mature cast of “The Warriors Three” 1)Fandral:Kenneth Branagh 2)Volstagg:Brendan Gleeson 3)Hogun:Josh Brolin.
