M-Cat says:

This is a great rumor because they would make great additions to the cast.

Chad says:

Law – Fandral the Dasshing
De Niro – Balder the Brave

Gary says:

I Will belive this one when it is announced.
I hope its true, but it sounds bizarre.
How would someone who hasent been cast yet know that Deniro and Law had been cast?

Ricky07 says:

Jude Law should be the young Magneto, in the MAGNETO MOVIE

M-Cat says:

Ricky07

That’s a great idea for young Magneto. I’m afraid there may not be a Magneto movie though.

Adrian says:

@Chad
I’m with you on that theory.

Kantstandya says:

man this is shapeing up to be one kickass movie, its just me but i still think that the avengers movie will be pushed back i mean its never been done before and it just seems so massive, plus how r they gonna put all that stuff in one movie i mean it would have to be at least 3 hours to do it justice. hope im wrong though for sure.

Andy S says:

I think we might be having our collective legs pulled with this one.

Lord Garth, Formerly of Izar says:

Fandal and Hogan

More excited for this film than any other Superhero flick !!!

This could be a Big Beautiful Walt Simonson Comic brought alive.

But Brian Blessed better f–king be Odin!!

Ken J says:

I don’t know, this is good news and bad news to me. Good news is that they are both a-list actors, bad news is that most likely neither Jude Law or Robert De Niro would be willing to be recurring characters in the Marvel universe so they will just appear once and that’s it. It would be cooler to get some good actors that are willing to show up more than once… We’ll see, maybe they are both willing, who knows, I just think they are “too big” to want to be in more than one comic book movie…

chris says:

well jude law is not going to be in it as just a small role so i say hes either loki,or hes thor as a human.

Rob Keyes says:

@ chris, Loki and Thor are set so Jude would be in some supporting role.

@ Lord Garth,

Agreed. Of all the Marvel solo films in development (or any other comic book movie), Thor is by far the one I’m most excited for.

stuntmanj says:

I gotta wait for the official announcement. DeNiro’s name is almost too good to be true. It doesn’t mean I’m not excited about it though. DeNiro and Skaarsgard also worked together before on “Ronin”(personal favorite)Definitely excited though!

Luke and Leia's Love Child says:

“You talkin’ to Odin?”

“YOU TALKIN’ TO ODIN?!!!”

“You must be talkin’ to Odin, I don’t see any other Asgardians here.”

This is how I’m going to call it:

We know Brian Blessed is up for Odin…
I’m thinking Jude Law is Tyr.
Matthias Schweighöfer is Vidar (?)
Skaarsgard and DeNiro? Vili and Ve.

In other words, I thinking we are looking at the core of Midguard/Asgard.

(Note: a younger DeNiro might have passed for Absorbing Man, but I don’t think that character is involved)

Giraffehead says:

I agree with Lord Garth, I am more excited for Brian Blessed.

But that isn’t to say Law and DeNiro aren’t going to rock any character they are given.

Andy S says:

@Rob..

This is probably my LEAST anticipated comic book movie. Not that I won’t be seeing it, but I am more interested in Iron Man 2 and Captain America.

INK says:

“bad news is that most likely neither Jude Law or Robert De Niro would be willing to be recurring characters in the Marvel universe”

Uhhh … De Niro had a recurring role with the Fockers, Thor shouldn’t be beneath him to do recurring roles.

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

Rob, it isn’t April 1st yet. :-)

This sounds to good to be true.

Manowar says:

Looks like this rumour has been debunked. And it seems they plan on starting to shoot Thor in 8-10 weeks!!! :)

Rob Keyes says:

@ Kahless,

lol, you just wait

stuntmanj says:

DeNiro as Balder or Heimdall…

The Glove says:

I think DeNero is up for playing Odin and Brian Blessed is is going to be playing the dude with the big red beard! think about it, you could easily see DeNero coming in to do a cameo as Odin.
It’s in the bag man!

Jacob says:

If this is true, could we be seeing the effects of Disney’s purchase of Marvel already?
