Josh Brolin (Almost) In Terminator Salvation

If you folks remember, rumors spread like wildfire earlier this year that Josh Brolin was in the running for a lead role in Terminator Salvation. Granted, that information came out of the mouth of the film’s director McG.

And while I generally give filmmakers the benefit of the doubt in the “truth-telling” department, I make an exception with McG. What with all the “I’ve gotten James Cameron’s blessing” stuff he started at Comic-Con.

Nonetheless, Sam Worthington was ultimately given the role in question – that of Marcus Wright (i.e. the new Terminator!)

Speaking to the MTV Movies Blog (probably doing press for his upcoming film Milk), Brolin confessed that he was in fact almost cast.

As the man who would be Dubya explained:

“Yeah, I talked to Christian [Bale] for a couple hours. I really liked the script though I hear that’s not what they filmed. The one I read was very interesting and dark. Ultimately though I didn’t think it felt right.”

It’s well-known that the on-set rewrites by Jonathon “I wrote The Dark Knight” Nolan have little to do with the earlier incarnations of the script. But it’s interesting to hear Brolin (someone not even involved with the production) confirm that information nonetheless.

I also can’t help but think Brolin made the right decision. Granted, Salvation looks great so far. But he frankly doesn’t need a franchise at this point with the recent slate of films he’s been associated with!

Terminator Salvation will be released on May 22, 2009.

I wouldn’t have minded seeing Josh Brolin in T4 at all – as long as they pay him more respect as a character than they did in No Country for Old Men”. They introduced us, titulated us, they gave us lots to chew on and then kill the main lead 3/4 of the way in – OFF-SCREEN no less.

I like Josh and he brings some great craft to bear.

Glad Brolin is an excellent actor (love him in ‘W.’), but glad he didn’t take the bait. T4 look great so far and excited to see a full blown trailer.

Does anyone else think that Josh Brolin would look good as Captain America, or is it just me?

LOL:D,Fun you should say that, I was going to on my post, but the probably with Brolin is is age unfortuantely. But, yeah, I with ya! IMHO, the New Kirk could be a great pic IF his acting is up to par with RDJ, Don C., E.Norton.

I would love to see Aaron Eckhart as Cap America as well, however due to age and the fact He Played Harvey Dent/Two Face in The Dark Knight probaly will make that a definite No.
