Despite having an incredibly awesome actor in Josh Brolin, and an incredibly famous actress in Megan Fox, the production and release date for the upcoming Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment adaptation of Jonah Hex has been both questionable and under the radar.

We’ve seen very little on the comic book movie about the scarred antihero in the old West, and with a release date currently set for this summer and very little to show for it, there’s obvious concern from fans and media about the status of Jonah Hex. Fret no longer Hex fans, as the movie appears to still be coming out as planned and first official trailer will be coming at us soon!

Jonah Hex was directed by Jimmy Hayward but re-shoots occurred in February where I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence was brought in to consult. The re-shoots added in about a dozen new script pages to the movie and what this all means for the quality of the final product we’ll have to wait and see.

Besides some set photos of Megan Fox, since last summer’s Warner Bros. presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, we’ve only seen an official photo of Brolin as Jonah Hex and a rather ordinary Jonah Hex movie poster. With a release date set for this summer, it’s shocking that we’ve yet to see a trailer release for public viewing. That, combined with the re-shoots, has some folks concerned.

For those anxious for when we’ll get that trailer and whether or not the film is actually coming out this summer, we have good news for you. According to Collider, Jonah Hex will hit theaters on June 18th (it was originally scheduled for an August release) and its official trailer will debut on the SyFy channel April 29th. It will also be attached to A Nightmare on Elm Street which opens theatrically the following day.

That’s only two weeks away so good news for those of excited to see Hayward’s work adapting the comic.

Here’s the plot synopsis for Jonah Hex (via Tribute):

Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone… and anything. Having survived death, Jonah’s violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the “other side.” His only human connection is with Leila (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own.

But Jonah’s past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can’t refuse: in exchange for his freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich). But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah’s oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead.

Jonah Hex stars Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, John Malkovich, Michael Fassbender, Will Arnett, Julia Jones, Michael Shannon and Aidan Quinn.
