Jonah Hex Header New Jonah Hex Image Gallery & Plot Synopsis

In anticipation of next week’s release of the supernatural comic book western Jonah Hex, Warner Bros. has released several new high-resolution images and an official synopsis for the film.

Jonah Hex features Josh Brolin (True Grit) as the titular character who – unlike in the original comic – develops strange, unnatural powers following the murder of his family and his own near-death experience at the hands of a dastardly villain played by John Malkovich (Transformers 3).  Along for the ride are stars Megan Fox (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) and Michael Fassbender (Centurion).

Here’s the official word from Warner Bros.:

Jonah Hex (Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a stoic, battle-hardened gunslinger who can track down anyone… and anything.  Having survived death, Jonah’s violent history is steeped in myth and legen, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the “other side.”  A man fated to wander alone, his sole human connection is with Lilah (Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own.

Jonah’s past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can’t refuse: in exchange for freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the sinister terrorist Quentin Turnbull (Malkovich), the man who killed Hex’s family and mutilated his face with a branding iron.  Turnball, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah’s oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead.

Based on the legendary character from the comic book series from DC Comics, “Jonah Hex” is an epic action adventure about one man’s personal quest for redemption against the canvas of the battle between good and evil.

“Legendary” is a bit of an embellishment – Hex is not quite up there with the likes of Superman and Batman ;-). However, Warner Bros. makes their film sound fairly epic with this description.  It’s a shame that the most recent trailer and TV spots make Jonah Hex look like a generic cross between Ghost Rider and Wild Wild West – as opposed to a gritty, intense western adventure.

There are also several new images from the film, which we’ve assembled into a photo gallery below.  Fanboys, rest assured, Megan Fox will likely be wearing that skimpy bodice and skirt outfit for most of the film.  As for the other actors, well, Malkovich usually makes for a fun villain so you can at least look forward to that.

  1. Whoa! I think I just read a sort of self-quote there! I remember saying months ago that this movie looks like a cross between Ghost Rider and Wild Wild West- now here’s the same comparison! I feel awesome now. ^_^

    • Hmm, not sure that it bodes well for Jonah Hex that a lot of people seem to keep thinking of the same two crappy movies when they see footage from it, but oh well… ;)

  2. @Chaos

You are as awesome as you are the person who first made the comparison

    • That was almost as unnecessarily rude as you are obnoxious.

      • And, thinking about it, learn to use the REPLY button. It exists for a reason.

  3. megan fox helllllllllllo

  4. Looks terrible. Will DC ever cast a female lead who can act?

  5. damn !!!!!!
I DO love the sight of a woman in a corset (yummmmmmmm).

oh yea , and I’m thinking that this movie is starting to look pretty cool
( but I’m still pissed that they didn’t make Jonah’s one eye all freaky looking ).

  6. @ Brodie Bruce well done Dude :)
    not sad at all.

thats what the makers of the film should have done ( but I am still gonna watch it ).

    • Likewise…it’s not as if they COULDN’T do it; maybe they thought it would make him look like a Wild West version of Mad-Eye Moody from the Harry Potter films?

  7. Jonah Hex should be like Frank Langella in “the box”, THAT’s scary

  8. @rastaZen
    many thanks sir.

and i agree, i am a fan of the character therefor i 2 shall be veiwing this upon it release.

  9. Wow, who knew Megan Fox was such a short-ass?

  10. This movie looks a bit interesting. I will not be watching it mainly because of Megan Fox – well, for that sole reason actually. If a better actress played the role than I might have given it a shot, or at least watch it when it gets released on DVD. Her being in it killed it for me. It doesn’t seem like it will be an epic film, but it could have been fun… if Megan Fox wasn’t in it of course.

  11. It’s been a while since I’ve read a Hex story but I don’t remember it being quite so comedic. It was more a horror series.

  12. This movie doesn’t seem like it will do well.
