Daniel Fenwick says:

Heath was great, but there is no reason to stop makin the films. The fact that he died is sad and all but life goes on and there is no reason to end a batman franchise because he is. Hell if they go beyond 3 films I’d be in favor of re casting.

Roberts the man says:

so danny heard about mortal kombat the movie?

Daniel Fenwick says:

What does Mortal Kombat have to do with this topic?

Roberts the man says:

nothin’

will8886 says:

well the riddler n the penguin r good choices, but i think those characters r too colorfull for the franchise, lets face it, the riddler would not be able to top the joker, the joker was psychotic, the franchise is too dark for the riddler, if anything, i would love to see characters like killer crock or clay face, we havent seen these characters in the big screen, n i think those may be the only one’s tat can maybe top the jokers performance, not only because their dark characters, but also cause their just scary to look at

detective comics 1939 #13 says:

the riddler + killer croc! the pyscopath and the cannible make a great team let riddler tear up gotham streets while killer croc is runnin around below the streets in the sewers eatin people or sumthin crazy to make batman go running around down there

michael says:

that sounds sweet but how is killer croc going to look in a movie based in reality, he’d be a crazy cannible in a crocadile outfit, and if they decide to go into the fantasy realm, man-bat might be cooler than croc.

will8886 says:

dude now days u can do anything on the big screen, besides im pretty sure they would be able to pull it off, i mean if they can it for movies like spiderman, i sure they can do it for the dark knight

Tamara says:

You know what, this could actually be good. If they wish to include villians that haven’t been on the big screen yet. Depp as The Mad Hatter of The Ventriloquist would be fantastic

detective comics 1939 #13 says:

what’s ur email tamara?? pretty good combintation toot’s lols

achilles heal says:

i think everyone needs to look at Joe Lackas as being the new Riddler in the new Batman movie. This dude from Iowa has got what it takes to put on the best act anyone has ever seen!!! Someone should really give it some thought to locating him and giving him a screen trial, or even have a booking agent come and check him out!! This man also does a mean and dead on cameo of the Joker, its scary to watch, he makes it look real!!!

sethiswright says:

Joe would be dead on for a Joker cameo. Someone should really give this guy an audition….

Sang says:

For recasting the Joker, I feel Chrarlie Hunnam (Son’s of Anarchy) would be great.

As for female villains….Eva Green.

Tamara says:

Eva Green..hmmmm YES I LIKE IT!! Can anyone say Talia al Ghul? That way all 3 movies can be wrapped up all squeaky and clean

Jess says:

I like Mike M.’s ideas for the new movie but i think they should get someone to play the joker and not just cut him off. “I think you and me are destined to do this forever.” Ring any bells!?!? If anyone else has figured out what Nolan does for these movies, he always does something we dont expect. Even though Heath did a kick a$$ job as the joker i think someone should try to take up his mantle or something… just a suggestion.

thetruth says:

Guy Pierce would make an excellent Joker.

He’s got the right look and the ability. And he’s worked with Nolan before, in Memento.

Daniel says:

I don’t think Guy would work well with this film at all

will8886 says:

well lets remember, we dont to watch the same thing over n over again, before u know its going to be like a superman flik with the same villain over n over again, the joker is done, i tink its time to move on

Daniel says:

I disagree. First of all the Superman flicks only do Lex Luthor. We have already had Batman films with out The Joker and hell TDK may of had Joker, but he wasn’t even the only Villain. The situation is vastly different at this point.

michael says:

I’ve been a thinkin and i thought about how Nolan would make Killer Kroc work, and i got it. Everyone look up Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp, the wikipedia description says “The Lizard Man is described as being seven feet tall (over 2m), bipedal, and well built, with green scaly skin and glowing orange eyes. It is said to have three toes on each foot and three fingers on each hand which end in a circular pad on them that stick to walls”. Another thing who hasn’t heard of Erik Sprague, the freak show Lizardman. Sprague had many surgeries to give him a close appearence to a reptile. If You put these two together you get a Killer Croc that is ground in reality. As well as another villain who is less well known, the Mad Hatter. The mad hatter could easily be done as a guy who creates some form of serum or micro chip that allows him to indirectly control another sentient being, such as killer croc. This would not only have two charaters that are drasticly different from the rest of the characters, you would also get to see batman actually fight an equal opponent

PhotoShopLifter Dan says:

Nothing would be a greater insult to the skills of the late Heath Ledger, IMHO, than to recast the role of the Joker; between the scriptwriting of Jonathan Nolan, Christopher Nolan, & David S. Goyer…the performance of Heath Ledger?

You can’t replace Heath Ledger, unless he has been cloned by the same evil Hollywood scientists keeping Walt Disney a corpse-sicle.

Daniel says:

It would not be even remotely close to an insult if the recast him. I hate when people act is if it would be such a terrible thing. Lets just never have the Joker in anything ever again because Heath was good at it. That’s ridiculous it makes no sense at all say it’s an insult.

Please no mad hatter I hope Nolan would never go there. That’s just bad.

Jay P says:

The Joker is in the next film or else there won’t be a next film. That’s the way I see it. The script would be ruined if they cut out the Joker. It was so clear that he was going to be in the next film. He will be in the next film.

Paul Bettany, Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio are the best ideas I have heard around the web. I say Paul Bettany because he was one of the auditions already so it wouldn’t be as hard for him to get into the role.

Helena Bonham Carter, Chrsitina Ricci and Kristen Bell have been the ideas for Harley Quinn. Bell is a little young for the job but Ricci and Carter could both do wonders.

If the Pneguin is casted, it will be Philip Seymour Hoffman, but I don’t think the Penguin is happening.

I am on the Coleman Reese = Riddler boat. However, if I am wrong, Neil Patrick Harris, David Hyde Pierce and Ryan Gosling would be great. All of them would have something different to bring to the table.

The best options for other Batman villains are Victor Zsasz, Victor Freeze, Rupert Thorne, Selina Kyle, Floyd Lawton or Bane.

Thoughts?

Daniel says:

I don’t like your ideas for Joker. Your casting for Harley is ok and some of your casting for Riddler is good. I really like the idea of Neil Patrick Harris and kind of like the idea of David Hyde Pierce but I hate the idea of Ryan Gosling.

Tamara says:

Hey Jay P, David Hyde Pierce would be such a CLASSIC riddler. As as i’m concerned the role is his but they would never cast him. Even though nolan is going to do his best to be true to the franchise this is still hollywood and DC trying to stay up with marvel and up the ante.

Daniel says:

I think Pierce would be a decent choice, butI really love the idea of Neil Patrick now. I’ve been really impressed with him the last few years especially after DR. Horrible.

Jess says:

I agree with Daniel andJay P. i think Pierce has a lot he could bring to the table as the riddler. As for the joker Johnny Depp has my vote. If any of u guys have Sweeny Todd you will understand why, he plays a sick and twisted murderous barber that uses shaving knives, and if i recall the joker likes knives too? I dont know i just think he could really do the part.

Jay P says:

Yes, I have seen Sweeney Todd, and that is why I would love to see Helen Bonham Carter as Harley Quinn. Wouldn’t that be great? Depp and Carter together again as Joker and Quinn. I can see it perfectly.

Although Pierce and Harris would make better Riddlers than Gosling, I just threw him in there because he would be the actor that would go out of his bubble like Ledger did and be something completely new and nail the role. I think he could pull it off, but at the same time, Harris and Pierce would deliver much more. Regardless of who plays him, I just think it’s time for the Riddler to …. “Suit Up!” (How I Met Your Mother reference)

SIN187UM says:

Johnny Depp would work because of his dark odd-ballness. If they want to go for the most similar in facial appearance they could go with Anthony Michael Hall or Neil Patrick Harris. Since Batman would be on the run, I think the Riddler would able to tie in nicely with his Riddles that are set to try and expose Batman’s identity while holding Gotham in fear. The only similarities in the Joker and Riddler is that they can be comedic and deadly at the same time, but E. Nigma is a lot smarter than the Joker, and focuses more on testing Batman’s intelligence than creating chaos for amusement. Catwoman could work if the Romantic element is kept to a minimum and she is not dressed up in a full catsuit like other Catwomen (especially not halle berry’s catwoman costume). did anyone hear the rumor that Cher was to be cast as catwoman?

Daniel says:

Sweeney Todd is another of the millions reasons I don’t want to see Depp in this film at all. He took a very well written character and performed horribly with it. I’ve seen community theater performances of Todd that were better.
