John Wick and Jason Bourne have a lot in common when you think about it. Both men are very mysterious. Both are utterly relentless. Both are seemingly indestructible. And both really really like to dish out loads of pain to their enemies. Basically, neither of these guys is anyone you want to mess with at any time. (You definitely don't want to mess with their pets.)
It actually isn't that much of a stretch to imagine a cross-over between the ultra-violent universes of Wick and Bourne. But would those guys be friends or enemies? Would they team up to inflict pain on the many people who wronged them or would they be destined to duke it out? Well, wonder no more what would actually happen if the cinematic worlds of John Wick and Jason Bourne collided.
YouTube user stryker HD has the answer to those questions, in the form of the above fan-made trailer. No, stryker HD does not provide us with a clear winner in the question of who would prevail in combat between Wick and Bourne, but he does give us a pretty enjoyable taste of the mayhem that would ensue if Wick and Bourne ever got together for a cross-over movie. Oh and make sure you watch all the way through to the end for the hilariously-appropriate cameos (those guys don't want to be left out).
It's pretty amusing to consider how neatly the worlds of Jason Bourne and John Wick mesh. In its own sly way, the trailer provides a commentary on the nature of today's action-machine heroes. Keanu Reeves and Matt Damon have both perfected the art of being really intense and threatening and mysterious, even though in real life neither guy seems like he would be very scary at all.
But who would actually win in a fight between John Wick and Jason Bourne? John Wick would definitely have the advantage in terms of pure killing instinct, but Bourne would have all that CIA training on his side. We know that both men can take just about as much punishment as they can dish out, so there would be no quitting on either side. That would definitely be a fight to the death.
It's safe to assume that John Wick and Jason Bourne won't be sharing the screen for real, anytime soon. In the meantime though, John Wick will be appearing (sans Bourne) in John Wick: Chapter Two next month and in a possible John Wick 3 down the road. We still don't know for certain if Jason Bourne will be back, but there's a pretty decent chance a Jason Bourne 6 will happen eventually.
