The final month of 2016 has seen the release of several trailers for buzzed-about 2017 franchise movies - including, the previews for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Transformers: The Last KnightThe Fate of the Furious and War for the Planet of the Apes (among others). Most of these tentpoles won't be arriving in theaters until April or May of next year (at the earliest), though there are some noteworthy titles scheduled to arrive as early as next February; among them being the LEGO Movie spinoff The LEGO Batman Movie and the sequel to the Keanu Reeves-headlined cult hit action movie, John Wick: Chapter Two.

The John Wick sequel picks up (literally) days after the first movie, as John (Reeves) is roped into fulfilling a blood oath that he owes to an old acquaintance, known as the Bowler King (Laurence Fishburne), and sets off to Rome in order to do battle with a dangerous international assassin's guild. With another film about shadowy organizations and assassins arriving in theaters next week (at the time of writing this), in the form of Assassin's Creed, it's all the more fitting that a new trailer for John Wick: Chapter Two will be hitting the scene then too.

Lionsgate has confirmed (via the film's official Twitter account) that the second trailer for John Wick: Chapter Two will be arriving online next Monday, December 19th. It's not been confirmed yet, but it stands to reason that the new trailer for the John Wick sequel will then be attached to select prints of Assassin's Creed, when the latter opens in theaters two days later (on December 21st).

First Look At Poster For John Wick: Chapter Two

The first trailer for John Wick: Chapter Two teases more of the world-building commonly cited as being a highlight of the first John Wick, in addition to action sequences and set pieces that are bigger and even flashier than the (already-impressive) shoot-outs and fistfights in the original installment. Chad Stahelski, who is directing the John Wick sequel solo after co-helming the first movie with David Leitch, has said that the sequel ups the ante with respect to the amount of action - so expect the second trailer for the film to further emphasize that element in particular.

John Wick: Chapter Two also includes a good deal of fresh blood in terms of the cast (fittingly so, given how many characters in the first movie were dead by the end); among them being Fishburne, as well as Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black), Peter Stormare (Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters) and Common (Run All Night). The second trailer should offer a better look at some of these new players from the sequel too, along with - hopefully - additional details about the emotional core of the story scripted by Derek Kolstad (also back from the first John Wick), this time around.
