Wow. I heard about Raimi and Maguire bailing from the project a few days ago, but I had no idea that Malkovich had been locked down to play Vulture. He would have been amazing. Now I'm even more disappointed.

Sony's going to completely ruin this franchise.

A Sinister Six movie would be horrible. I can’t believe people are advocating for that. How on Earth would you fit all that into a movie (and because it’s a superhero movie, there’s going to be a strong push to keep it short). More villains does not equal more good, even if those villains actually appeared together in the comics. The last thing we need is another Spiderman 3, or X-Men 3, or Batman & Robin, or Pirates of the Caribbean anything but 1. Character development, mood, story, plot – all these things get thrown out the window when you try to cram too much into a single movie.

They’re bound to tie up the whole curt conners thing, in the next few installments.

I think Spidey 4 will be Raimi’s swan song, with Parker vs. Vulture and a drastic change in his home life. (May dies or MJ leaves him for work on a soap opera in Hollywood, which she actually did in the comics) this leaves Peters’ door wide open (probably because his landlord still hasn’t fixed it) Open for Felicia Hardy. Cue intro.

Spidey 5 (reboot with new peter and new director) Spidey vs. Kraven and Lizard. and felicia. (modeled after “Kraven’s last Hunt” with Lizard replacing Vermin.

Spidey 6 could be two

either: A New venom tale with Carnage (for the younger fans)

as all the signs are showing, the Sinister Six. The question is which sinister six?, their line-up varied over the years.

so far, sandman, vulture, doc ock… and if that’s the plan then movie’s 4 and 5 have to set it up. Who knows? But Black Cat would be an helpful ally against 6 super-villains. In the comics, Black Cat saved the webheads’ keister when he lost his powers. Just a prediction. Any thoughts?

Curt Conners has been in the last two films. It’s time for that Lizard storyline to bear fruit already. Why bother to keep putting him in the movies and then not have it payoff?

Vin Diesel is an excellent choice for Venom, I can actually picture that, the huge Eddie Brock doing weights and hating Spiderman/Peter.

Morbius is still the best choice, make him a real monster of a person, no redemption, just pure evil. And kill off Mary Jane, that would give Spiderman some motivation at the very least. Make him think Morbius did it, but later reveal it was in fact the Lizzard!

OMG. Still trying to chum Vulture down our throats. And to appease us by saying no Vulturess now. WTF? NO means NO! No Vulture. No Vultress. No Raimi. REBOOT the franchise already UNLESS you can say Spidey 3 never happened and give us a real Venom villian.

I think Vulture could be cool. I was ready for a Morbius / Lizard movie, though.

I have no idea where are they are trying to go. But, at least it seems like Raimi is getting his top choice for the villain.

Let’s hope this isn’t a debacle like SP3.

as awesome as it may sound i doubt they would do that, sony it to F***ing stupid to think of something as epic as sinister 6 movie, or avengers

this could be interesting seeing as the vulture is a somewhat thief (in the game he is, not to sure about the comics) and so is black cat.

if they did have the lizard in, it would only make sense to add kraven in there to, to hunt not only lizard but spiderman as well, there could be a mutual friendship between kraven and spidey to stop lizard and he could at the end turn on him.

I think you misunderstood my comment. I too think Malkovich is a great actor and feel that if The Vulture is going to be in the movie, he is the perfect person for the role.

I think the Sandman thing is exactly the point people are trying to make. He, like a lot of the villains in the Spider-Man movies, was never truly evil. Which is kind of a letdown. I really want to see a deliciously evil villain who kills anybody who gets in his way. I want to see murderers!

Green goblin wasn’t nice. He dies tryin to kill spidey. Venom also not nice. Doc oc ya he has a change of heart. But sandman was never really evil, only teing to help his dying daughter. Wouldn’t u rob a bank if u were in that situation.

Even if the “confirmation” is true, the studio hears and sees the fan backlash already. They will have more “issues’ and there will be more delays. The studio will most likely follow the younger fans demand of CARNAGE!

Ithink that would be a mistake , Malkovich is a great actor and a Vulture upgrade a’la Archangel-style wings, could be kickin’. Vulture is a classic villain, not some 90′s goo spawned from a symbiote. He is truely evil, and vulture’s evil stems from… GREED! Raimi wants to redeem himself…

I’d like to say, “trust Raimi’s vision” but there are forces at work that want to interfere in this story.

one thing’s for sure, Spidey 4′s success depends on Raimi laying down the law, and a better release date.

do you know if these are the same writers throughout the four spiderman movies? these characters they use from the comics were truly evil in the comics so I don’t understand why they went away from that formula. They have to keep making these guys genuinely nice for some reason. I just don’t get it.

To the other comments, I really wish we’d see Dr. Curt Connors transform into The Lizard as well and that would have worked well with Morbius had they gone that route.

Benicio del Toro would be the PERFECT Morbius.
