Stop disrespecting Ghosts of Mars. It had a great cast including Jason Statham and Pam Grier, awesome music from Buckethead and Anthrax, and John C in his Western element.

Was it low budget? Yeah. Did it still kick ass? HELL yes. So stop whining. Ten years from now you idiots will be calling it a classic, JUST like The Thing.

We're all rooting for you John, please don't let us down!!!
Another poster on here hit the nail on the head when he
said that he hopes Carpenter sticks to what he knows and
doesn't try to emulate some recent (lame I might add) horror
trend. John Carpenter - you are better than anything out there
and everything out there wishes it was you anyway so please
LEAD, don't FOLLOW! 8)

After watching 'The Thing' back in '82 this guy could do a cooking show and I'd still be a fan. Period.

I very excited for this. I've been a big Carpenter fan all my life, with Halloween becoming an Oct.31st tradition and Escape From New York being a personal favorite. I'm hoping this movie can revive his stellar career. Maybe we'll see Kurt Russell as Snake again.

Yeah even though there were passable moments in his Invisible Man movie and his Village of the Damned remake.... IMHO Carpenter hasn't made a good movie since Big Trouble in 85

Vampires was a huge letdown - just wasn't that great - but at least it wasn't as bad as the book it was based on lol

Don't ask me what he was after with the Ghosts of Mars......

I hope this new flick would be good but he has lost his mojo for me.....

A bit of a relief.

After Carpenter's last few movies, it's been hard to be his fan and defending him.

I really do hope he makes a comeback and sticks with what he knows and doesn't try to emulate some of the recent horror-movie fads.

Don't think so ogb. I'm pretty sure that was just a piece of raw footage. There has been no mention up to this point that I know of that Carpenter is going that direction.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this. Other than being a Carpenter fan, part of this movie was filmed a couple weeks ago at the university that I work at. They converted one of our old administration buildings into the lobby of the "Ward". A big chunk of it was also filmed at the psychiatric hospital less than 10 miles from where I live, see: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~asylums/medlake_wa/index.html. Right when I got off work I decided to do a little snooping. I found a door that wasn't being guarded but was covered with black paper. When I opened it i was standing about 4 feet from Carpenter himself, facing away from me, arms up in the air, appearing to be framing a shot from one of the entrances! Looked pretty cool what they were doing and I'm stoked to see the end product!!
