It’s not going to happen anytime soon, but I would still like to see a fresh new cast and director breathe new life into the Spiderman franchise.

Whilst I’ve enjoyed what Raimi has done, I would prefer more fast paced realistic action, better dramatic acting and less campy humour.

Having said that, I am eagerly anticipating Spidey 4, so I don’t hate Sam Raimi and I certainly don’t think he’s over rated. I just want to see a fresh approach after Spidey 4.

Ultimate Avengers I and II are animatd movies about an hour and fifteen minutes long each.
Just about everything these guys (The ones I’ve mentioned) get involved in, are fantastic. Come to think of it, I should have written these posts in the discussion on who should direct The Avengers >_<

I was going to mention Drag Me To Hell, but I lost all interest during the parking garage scene. So it wouldn’t be fair to judge it since I didn’t finish watching it lol.

Still no thoughts on the director/writers I mentioned above? After all, Boyd Kirkland did write the screen story for Ultimate Avengers I and II. IMDB some of these guys and you’ll see what I’m on about. And if you haven’t seen these animated gems, I highly reccomend it.

I agree with ya. Ive seen worse comic book adaption films worser than Spidey 3, Mainly Supergirl comes to mind. And like Ken J mentioned was true about the studio was more involved so it was more their fault than Raimi’s. Why let one film get everyone outta line. Every director has a bad film in their careers. If not Raimi, the film could always be worse in the same way people think of the X-Men franchise after Singer left. And you cant count on someone like Chris Nolan to make every single super hero film. It all reminds me of having all the Halloween films except for part 3 because it doesnt have Michael Myers in it, but it wouldnt keep me from wanting more films to be made. To me i think all Raimi could of done was replace certain scenes and fill replace the bads with somthing like Peter doin stuff in the alien costume etc.

Did you not see the abortion of a movie that was Drag Me To Hell? The least scary, worst directed and acted, ‘horror’ movie in the past decade!!!
Rami, could have done more with Spiderman 3, he had more control over the project than eveyone thinks, if he was really unhapy he could have walked! What about Emo Peter? And even if Venom hadnt been forced on him, the plot still would have been shit with the sandman. Venom should have been the only villain in that film.
That said, the only decent bit of acting and plot in Spiderman 3 came from James Franco and Harry’s story.

First off, to Mike: I hope not

True Josh. The producers may have killed his true potential regarding Spiderman, although, I did like Sandman, but the under developed Venom story ruined everything about it (Personally, Evil Dead is one of my favorite movies). In my opinion, I would just like to have a director with indepth knowledge and understanding of the idea as a whole. Otherwise, the project will go down like the Titanic. That being said. I hope who every gets elected, lives up to our hopes and fears, lol. For once, I’d just like to see the movie industry follow through and give us something promising, without too much comprimise.

Sam Raimi is not overrated. He made one crappy film, Spider-Man 3, which, in all honesty, was still a lot better than some of the other superhero movies we’ve gotten, and suddenly everybody hates the guy. I mean, come on, everyone has had their off project.

i agree 100% with roy, aaron eckhart or jon hamm r very good choices. as for disney i don’t think they will try to have any input into the next three marvel movies thor captain america or especially the avengers because these 3 franchise character movies were already being produced,directed and have creative control over by marvel entertainment and if disney wants to see a well made,well produced, well directed movie then stay away & let marvel do it’s thing.

Aaron Eckhart…hmmm… that could actually be the best nominee I heard of yet. He might be able to pull it off with authority and the right amount of patriotism. I also agree to Kofis suggestion of John Hamm.

What worries me, is Disneys influence on the project. I have nothing against a younger audience getting interested in classic superhero mevies. But take for example, Family action hero Brendon Fraser getting the part. What a farce and disgrace that would be!!!

As for Sam Raimi, “Don’t call us. We’ll call you.” Granted, I liked Darkman, but I doubt he can live up to what Jon Favreau brought to the screen.
Why not try some of the directors of animated superhero films? Such as: Dan Riba, Kevin Altieri, Boyd Kirkland or Frank Paur. They did one hell of a job in, Batman: The animated series, and The Justice league.
Any thoughts on this? Anyone….Anyone?

I liked Spiderman 1 and loved # 2. 3 I have no comment about but the guy is his biggest fan and that’s what worries me. maybe he just had to say that. couldn’t bash him i guess. Raimi has received plenty of that.
