Ben Affleck thrilled DC fans yesterday, tweeting a sneak peek video from the set of the upcoming Justice League movie. The twenty-seven second clip revealed a new villain for the DCEU: Deathstroke. An unknown actor is seen walking menacingly toward the camera in full costume in the video — and although the footage comes from the set of Justice League, it has been confirmed that Affleck did the tweeting for a reason. Deathstroke will be the primary villain for the upcoming (undated) solo Batman flick.

Melbourne based-artist BossLogic created some amazing fan-art of True Blood star Joe Manganiello as Slade Wilson when the rumors first surfaced, and now he’s done it again. The artist tweeted a new image of Manganiello as the DC villain Monday evening, tagging Manganiello and Affleck alongside the caption “We can hope. #Deathstroke”.

Joe Manganiello has been rumored for the role since long before Deathstroke was confirmed for any film — since last year, in fact. Many fans expected him to show up in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad this year, after he stepped down from Scream Queens due to “scheduling conflicts” ahead of Suicide Squad filming. Although Manganiello has still not been confirmed, he remains the most likely choice, especially as he is currently in London (where Justice League is filming).

The fan art from BossLogic is absolutely phenomenal, and shows just how well Manganiello could take on the role of the grizzled mercenary for the DCEU. Although Deathstroke is usually masked, Slade’s face underneath looks remarkably like Manganiello  — especially with that beard and jawline.

Of course, this is all still rumors and speculation – Manganiello has not been confirmed as Deathstroke, nor even confirmed for Justice League at all. The actor could well be in London on a completely unrelated trip, and his previous “scheduling conflicts” may have nothing to do with the DCEU. While phenomenal, the art is pure fan-art, and is not in any way officially connected to DC.

However, the image (and previous image by Boss Logic, above) looks absolutely stunning, and it definitely has fans excited about the possibility of Manganiello as Slade Wilson in future. We’ll keep you updated as and when there is more news on who might be in the Deathstroke suit.
