He should direct. Maybe not write but he is a far better director and humbler man than the writers. you guys forget he started the series and came up with all of its ideas as well as most of season 1's backbone, which is still to some, the best season. Also he is Exec Producer so although he is chill now, he has the final say on all things. I seriously hope he directs because the shows quality Except for story and acting wise) has gone down. Both budget wise, cinematography wise, editing wise, effects wise (everything looks so fake unlike the realism of 6 years ago. How is that for weird.) and etc. He would change that and at least give the show a goo last final BANG! My two cents.

HE NEEDS TO GET HIS ASS BACK THERE FOR THE FINALE. IF NOT TO DIRECT, HE NEEDS TO AT LEAST BE INTENSELY INVOLVED.

it's interesting if they recorded an episode with a digital 3d camera like james cameron'ss avatar is using. some might say its a novelty but i think it would look awesome with special effects. but i mean making the entire image 3d showing depth. not the pop out gimmick we are used to. the idea is to show the image in its natural 3d space. so its really engaging rather than a gimmick

or maybe try the red one camer aor a 4K camera and downsample it too 1080p. it's be interesting to see.

For those who are saying Lost got worst each season it's probably because (like myself) more questions were being answered than not. Which left me not as on the edge of my seat as much. But Lost is one long story and there needs to be some closure. We can't keep playing a guessing game. I'm really looking forward to how the series ends. Abrams and others promise that the ending will not let fans down and will be a good one. As far as Abrahms directing finale. I guess if he hasn't done so after the first season then shouldn't make a difference. They already got the momentum going so why bring him in now.

I can't believe my eyes! How can you say Lost got better! Series 1: 10/10 perfect. Series 2: 9/10 just as good and even more dark! Series 3: just doesn't feel the same, atmosphere is crap too much tv drama and the others are too cheesy. : (. Series 4: stopped watchin lost but seen a few episodes this season. Time travel, weird temple, stupid horrible new cast members I've seen in other shows ruins everything. And they don't seem to be that shocked/amazed that they're going back in time! Seriously thanks 4 ruining the best thing on tv because u wanted to pull in more viewers.

Regarding Locke not being Locke I think it's too obvious to be the case. If you consider the issue with the coffin screening at the airport...why make that an issue. Then the guy at the check in desk speaking to Jack. He is wearing a silver bracelet which looks identical to the ones worn by Naomi and also the girl working for Widmore that Saeed met in Germany. Is it possible that something was done to Locke at the airport? We know Widmore has influence at airports from when he intercepted Sun. If he can fake an air crash he can fake a body. More importantly is the issue of the shoes that Jack put on Lockes feet when in the coffin. These are black lace up broagues. If you study Locke on the island in the finale there is a brief scene when those shoes are placed on top of the blanket he wears when first discovered, and Locke has nothing on his feet standing looking out to sea. Further more there are other moments when Locke picks up the shoes to put them on and also pack in his bag but you have to be quick to spot them. When the other Locke falls from the cofffin at the end his feet are not in shot....a coincidence or intentional? For now and with the incredible twists and turns in Lost I do not believe that the Locke in the coffin at the end is the real John Locke. It's the shoes that prevent me from jumping to that obvious conclusion. Losts creators need a bit more credit. I'll eat my words if I'm wrong. But I've a feeling there will be another twist in the Locke saga.

Let's look at this way, I remember when Alias was on, J.J. Abrams had Jack Bender directed some episodes even though he had him directed a "big and turn around" episode that aired after Super Bowl in 2003. So later on, when J.J. Abrams began working on Lost and I kinda of had a feeling that he picked Jack Bender to take in charge of Lost after he was done directing the Pilot episode which it happened. As the far as the show goes, Jack Bender has directed all season finales so he should be the one who should direct the series finale next year.

I believe that they probably will do 3 hours series finale but probably like what they did with 1st season finale where first part being 1 hour then 2nd part being 2 hours which makes up to being 3 hours.

However, I think Jack Bender should direct full 3 hours for the finale next year as in episodes 16 and 17 where episode 17 is being 2 hours long.

With J.J. Abrams, depending on his open schedule, he should direct either the season premiere as in following where Jack Bender should direct 2nd episode. Or as following into final few episodes before the show ends for good if J.J. Abrams doesn't do the premiere but I think Jack Bender should do the premiere to continue his best work with the recent season finale.
Maybe it could go like this...

episode 14- Stephen Williams
episode 15- J.J. Abrams
episodes 16 and 17- Jack Bender

My expectation is that THE Finale will be like this season's finale...two episodes on one night. There would be a nice Island-like symmetry to have Abrams direct the first (or penultimate) of the finale episodes, and Bender to direct the second (or ultimate). Or maybe have Abrams direct the first episode of the final season.

It would just fit to include him somewhere...

Lost has gotten better & better - which means the last season and ultimate finale can only be "disappointing" for ending the mystery that has carried the show.

As to that very last episode, I'm with Abrams: it should be Bender. The "director" of any TV episode means virtually *nothing* compared to the writing of it. To change directors, even parachuting JJ back in, would be jarring or - at best! - not noticed at all. They should end with the production-team got them there and who know it best.

From what I hear, those guys already KNOW how it ends - and I think having someone else come in (even back-in) to screw with that vision would be a mistake and potential stunt-travesty. Have him direct *a* last-season episode if he's keen and free, sure - but not THE last... it's not his show anymore.
