Netflix’s Jessica Jones was a great run while it lasted – but unfortunately, it too has gone the way of the rest of the Marvel & Netflix series. At least this show, in particular, got more of a heads up than some of the others (sorry Daredevil). But even with that warning, it feels like there are still so many plots and ideas left unexplored for Jessica Jones.

And there are certainly questions fans are still asking. And who can blame them? Here are just a few of the questions we wish we could get answers for, but realistically we never will (unless the series gets saved somehow). And naturally, since Jessica Jones is the last of the Netflix series, some of our questions revolve around the big picture.

(Spoilers for Jessica Jones Season 3)

Will Trish Ever Get A Chance At Redemption?

Jessica Jones Season 3 Trish Walker Hellcat

Anybody that has watched the entire season 3 of Jessica Jones is probably left with little doubt about Trish’s character. Or why she deserved to be sent to the raft. However, many of us are left wondering; if the series had continued, would Trish have been given the opportunity to redeem herself? After all, this is not the Hellcat from the comics. Far from it, in fact. That doesn’t automatically mean that she would change…but it’d be nice to see her try (for once).

Redemption has been a running undercurrent in the Jessica Jones series, so it would make sense to try and include something like this. Or maybe it’s just wishful thinking.

How Will the Public View Superpowered People Now?

Jessica Jones Daredevil Cop Mahoney

The perspective on superpowered people has always been all over the place – even in other series. One minute civilians are being saved and loving their heroes for it, the next moment a strongly worded newspaper article has turned the tides.

Jessica Jones is no exception. The people around Jess are constantly changing their minds and opinions about her abilities. Season 3, in particular, had some strong shifts in public opinion. But perhaps, now that Jess has proven herself once again, things could stay stable for a while? Or would something else happen to once again change the tide?

Will Luke and Jessica Ever End Up Together?

In the comics, Luke and Jessica are a thing. It’s adorable and while there are sometimes issues to be dealt with, they manage. We saw the two together back in season 1, and we’ve all been rooting to see it happen again. But the series has given us very little to go on, other than to keep on hoping.

Luke’s cameo in season 3 did give us hope. Would they have eventually found their way back to each other, had the series (or the Defenders) continued on? Or would they have kept teasing us fans?

Will Jessica Ever Get Her Other Comic Book BFF?

Captain Marvel and Jessica Jones

In the comics, Jess has a best friend – other than Trish, that is. In fact, her bff is currently rocking it in the MCU. We’re talking about Captain Marvel. We know that the MCU and Netflix series haven’t crossed over, and that there really weren’t any plans to do so. But should the series continue on Disney’s streaming service…maybe we could see these two hanging out together? You have to admit it’d be a lot of fun seeing these two take on a villain or two together.

Will the Defenders Return?

Jessica Jones Season 3 Ending Defenders

The Defenders only ran for one season, which mostly fit in with their plan for that series. However, in the comics, the Defenders have been together for a lot longer. Long enough to actually get a group title, for one thing.

Had all of the series not been canceled, would the Defenders have come back? And would Jessica have willingly joined it? Jessica’s involvement in superhero teams isn’t always voluntary in the comics, which sort of held true in the first season of the Defenders. So perhaps ‘willingly’ isn’t the right word here.

What About Alias Investigations?

Eka Darville as Malcolm and Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker in Jessica Jones

The ending for Jessica Jones was both ambiguous and very clear on some things. Jessica had clearly left Alias Investigations in the hands of Malcolm – only for her to turn around and presumably return. But what exactly would that mean for the Investigative service? Would Jess and Malcolm have been partners? He’s certainly talented enough for the job, and Jess could use the help. This is a side of Alias Investigations we’ve never seen in the comics, and thus we can’t really predict how it would operate.

What Will Hogarth Do?

Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth in Jessica Jones

Oh, Hogarth. How you constantly manage to dig such big holes for yourself, we’ll never know. But seriously, we have to wonder, what exactly is going to happen to Hogarth now? At the beginning of the season, she had been desperate to have somebody help her – to have somebody there for her in the end.

Originally Hogarth was hoping that Jess would help her out…but that ship has sailed. And all thanks to the way she behaved (granted, Jess wasn’t too keen on the idea to begin with, but she might have been brought around, with time). And then she just continued to burn bridges…leaving her with nobody. So we’re left wondering, will she make the hard decision herself? Or just keep going on as she is?

What About Erik Gelden?

Jessica Jones and Erik Gelden in Season 3

In the comics, Erik Gelden is actually a villain, Mind-Wave. You can probably guess what sort of villain he was like, from the name and his ability set. But the real question is – would Netflix's Erik ever turn into that villain?

Last we saw Erik, he was on a very different path. One where we presume he was hoping to be a good enough person to deserve being around Jess. For his sake, we’d hope he’d stay on that path. But knowing his origins leaves us in doubt.

Will Jessica Pick Up Where She Left Off?

Last we saw Jessica, she was smiling in that stubborn way we know so well, and heading back home. But does that mean she’ll pick up exactly where she left off? Or will she continue to make some major changes in her life – just perhaps not to the same extreme as moving away to Mexico.

Jess has learned a lot this season. She’s learned about herself, her powers, and what it takes to be a good person (and the reserve of that as well). There is a lot she could do with her life, if she applied all the knowledge she’s picked up from this season. The question is, will she?

Will Jessica Jones Return?

Jessica Jones Season 2 NYCC poster art

And of course, the question on all of our minds: will Jessica Jones return? Netflix has canceled all of the Marvel series (Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil, Defenders, and Punisher). But that doesn’t mean that we can’t see them continue on another platform. Say…Disney’s new platform.

Due to contacts, none of the series could be touched for two years, but after that point it would theoretically be fair game. The real question is; would Disney be interested? And would the audience still be waiting for it, after a two-year gap? And of course, would the actors be willing to come back?

There’s a chance that this could happen. There’s an equally good chance that they’d simply reboot the series, should they pick the rights back up. And we’re very conflicted about that idea.
