Yes,I know that Johnny Depp supposedly has some Cherokee in him and he wouldn’t be the first white actor to play a Native American-Jeff Chandler(Jewish);Sal Mineo(Italian);Ricardo Montalban(Mexican);Lou Diamond Phillips(Scots-Irish;Fillipino-Hawaiian;Cherokee);Rock Hudson(Gay);
Burt Lancaster(Irish);Chuck Connors(Irish);Mel Brooks*(A Brief Scene in”Blazing Saddles”as an Indian Who Speaks Yiddish!!Also Jewish);Tony Curtis*(*As Ira Hayes.The Pima Who Raised The Flag on Iwo Jima in’The Outsider’.Also Jewish) Paul Newman*(*In’Hombre’.However,his character in Hombre was a white man who was captured by the Apaches as a boy and was raised by them.Also Jewish)and Henry Brandon*(*Comanche Chief Scar in’The Searchers’.German)among others.

Now I’m Scots-Irish with Blonde Hair and Blue Eyes buit supposedly my Paternal Great Grandma had some Cherokee in her.
Now whenever I mention it to some people,they say”You Ain’t No Indian!!You Got Blonde Hair and Blue Eyes!!”to which I say
“Didn’t you ever see Paul Newman in”Hombre”??!!!

Anyway,I’d much rather see Adam Beach from”Windtalkers”and”Flags of Our Fathers”and
Law&Order SVU as Tonto!!!

Hmm…very interesting indeed. I saw the ’80s remake when I was a kid and it was quite good. However, I don’t think removing Tonto will be a good idea because, if I remember correctly, it was Tonto’s tribe that helped the Lone Ranger recuperate from his wounds when he and the other rangers where ambushed by a bunch of outlaws. It was also their tribe that makes use of silver bullets. Well, this was the origin story in that ’80s film. I don’t know if this is the same with the original story of the ’30s.

Tonto, IMO, should not be in it. He’s the equivelant of what Robin is to Batman,IMO. I say they don’t need to use him if this is a “revisioning” of LR.

But methinks this will be interesting. I’m anxious to see what his take will be.

The Lone Ranger was my childhood hero.
As popular as the TV show was and still is in syndication, I’m surprised that it has taken for so long for someone to revive the Lone Ranger.
I can’t wait for the movie

This sounds like it would be interesting. Never a big fan of the LR, but if it’s a fun movie, I will check it out. As for other heroes who don’t espouse guns, let us not forget Spider-Man…..
