Simultaneously bleak and beautiful, James Gray's tragic romantic drama follows Marion Cotillard's Polish immigrant as she arrives in New York in the 1920s and falls under the influence of Joaquin Phoenix's abusive admirer.

Renner plays the charming relative of Phoenix's character who prompts an ugly feud between the two when he falls for Cottilard's character also.

Renner stars as a soldier tasked with bomb disposal duties in the deadliest time of the Iraq War, his nerve-shredding journey redefining the modern war movie and providing a wholly unique character study.
