Apparently Jeopardy! isn't a fan of Black Widow, or at least enough to know the difference between Romanoff and Romanova. Played by Scarlett Johansson in the MCU, Black Widow is a fan favorite character. She debuted soon after the Marvel movies began, however, she won't get her long-awaited solo film until later this year. It will show audiences what happened to Natasha in between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. As Black Widow died during Avengers: Endgame, the upcoming film is a prequel. It will focus on Natasha confronting her history, including those she trained with in the Red Room.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait longer than expected to see Black Widow: the movie's release was recently delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was originally supposed to debut in May, and as of now, doesn't have a new release date. It joins other blockbusters, including fellow female-led movie Wonder Woman 1984 in being delayed. However, in that movie's case, Warner Bros. snagged a new August release date in hopes theaters will be back up and running by then.

Jeopardy!'s Black Widow clue mishap came during last night's episode, when "Female Superheroes" was a category. One clue read, "It's the superhero name of Natasha Romanova, a big screen butt-kicker played by Scarlett Johansson." A contestant correctly answered Black Widow, however Jeopardy! used Natasha's comic book name rather than her name in the movies. In the comics, her birth name is Natalia Romanova, though she uses several aliases. The "Female Superheroes" category also featured questions on Storm, Wonder Woman, and fellow MCU character Gamora. Check out the Black Widow clue, posted by Reddit user galactichan, below:

Jeopardy! has been in the news lately due to host Alex Trebek's cancer diagnosis last year. Throughout his illness, Trebek has continued hosting the game show and has offered updates on his condition. Though he doesn't plan on retiring yet, Trebek recently revealed he already knows what he'll say during his last episode. Trebek is one of the more well-known figures on television, as he's hosted Jeopardy! since the early '80s. He's also a big part of the reason why Jeopardy! fans tune in each night. Recently, the long-running game show made headlines with its Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time competition, which saw Ken Jennings take home the title.

It was probably fun for female superhero fans to see a category on Jeopardy! specifically devoted to them. The game show has done questions on superhero movies and TV shows before and often covers current pop culture. The mix up with Natasha's name from the Black Widow comics and MCU films isn't all that surprising. She's gone by many names in both the comics and movies, meaning it's easy to make a mistake. Plus, the Jeopardy! writers come up with hundreds of clues each week, increasing the likelihood of a slip up. Luckily, the contestant who answered was familiar enough with Black Widow to still get it right.
