Javier Bardem Confirmed for James Bond 23

1 year ago by Kofi Outlaw

Javier Bardem James Bond Javier Bardem Confirmed for James Bond 23

It’s long been rumored (and pretty much assumed) that Javier Bardem would have a role in the next James Bond film, which is still going under the working title James Bond 23. Word had it that he would be playing some kind of villain role, but wether it was a mastermind or thug-type villain was unknown.

Well, we now have confirmation of one thing: Bardem is indeed going to be sharing the screen with Daniel Craig’s James Bond.

For all the secrecy surrounding director Sam Mendes’ (American Beauty) Bond film, the confirmation of Bardem’s casting came pretty casually (irony alert) as the actor sat down to talk to ABC Nightline about more serious matters – like suffering refugees. Of course, most people reading this are probably more interested in the Bond news – said Bardem:

“I am very excited, my parents took me to watch the movies, and I saw all of them, so to play that is going to be fun. ”They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details.”

Despite his coy answer to the TV cameras, Bardem has in fact already let the cat out of proverbial bag, having already admitted in a past interview that he had indeed been offered a villain role in Bond 23. But will he play henchman to a mastermind villain? Could that mastermind be Ralph Fiennes as the new Blofeld? Will this film tie up the threads from the previous two about the Quantum Organization? Clearly there are still many questions to be answered.

We do know that Daniel Craig is still Bond, his boss “M” is still Judi Dench, Naomi Harris is likely playing Moneypenny and that the next Bond girl will be French Actress Bérénice Marlohe.

However, we’ll be finding out more, soon, as Bond 23 starts shooting next month to make its November 9, 2012 release date.

This is old news. The only real question in what capacity will Bardem play his villainous role. How will his character relate to Fiennes’ character. Doubtful that Bardem would play second fiddle.
All this talk about Blofeld is rubbish. The bottom line is that Barbara Broccoli and EON do not have the legal rights to portray the name and character ” Blofeld.”
It’s more likely that Ralph Fiennes will be the man behind QUANTUM. This does make sense.

Yawn. Broken record. Same post every time. We get it, you’re excited for The Man Of Steel, I hear it’s a small club.

But you are at least correct about them not being able to use Blofeld. Kevin McClory owns the character entirely and he will never appear onscreen again.

I wonder if he’ll flip a coin and tell Bond to “call it”.

Can’t quite understand why they haven’t made a bigger deal out of his casting, i.e. some sort of news conference or whatever, wouldn’t one think they’d announce his (and Fiennes for that matter) casting as some sort of big deal rather then letting him mention it casually in an interview about his humanitarian work? Anyhoo… wowee zowee, Bardem (and most likely Ralph Fiennes) up against Bond, best casting since Robert Shaw as Red Grant!

Good point, in the past they have done press conferences for this sort of thing, it does seem to be a little low key for such a famous actor.

I hope the climactic fight between Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem will knock everyone on their ass.
I am waiting for a good hand-to-hand fight for Bond, not those brief fights he kept getting.
Kurt Angle and Gary Daniels would be good secondary villains. There would be amazing fight scenes between each of them with Daniel Craig.
There could be a fight sequence where Kurt Angle overhead belly to belly suplexes Daniel Craig through a glass wall and later executes the Angle Slam on him as well but Daniel Craig manages to beat him after a long, hard fight.

Yawn 2U. The club isn’t as small as you would hope. Certainly not as small as the space between your ears.
Wow. Three posts … two replies to my own.
Feel free not to reply next time… I certainly don’t need you to clarify the veracity of my posts. Feel free NOT to reply to my comments…
Now that THAT’s out of the way….

    Sticking with BOND 23;

It would be great to have Felix Leiter play a role in this next Bond installment. The character has appeared in the last two Bond films along with Craig so it would seem fitting for Jeffrey Wright to return to form. Jeff’s portrayal of Leiter has been the best yet of all the Bond films. Light years better than David Hedison.
Unfortunately, there’s been NO word of Jeffrey Wright attached to the cast….

I’d have a hard time imagining them not bringing Felix Leiter back in some capacity, anyhow I think they announced a press conference sometime in late November, so we’ll find out soon enough…?
