January Jones in Emma Frost Costume on X-Men: First Class Set

January Jones in Emma Frost Costume in X-Men: First Class

Tahyna Tozzi played her in X-Men Origins: Wolverine; Rosamund Pike was rumored to play her in X-Men: First Class; Alice Eve was actually going to play her in X-Men: First Class but dropped out, leaving room for Mad Men’s January Jones to take on the role of Emma Frost in Twentieth Century Fox’s franchise prequel.

Production on X-Men: First Class began about a week ago in England and today INF Daily spotted the mutant on set in between shooting scenes, taking photos and walking with her stunt double. Also known as the White Queen, you can check out January Jones’ character in costume below.

It’s hard to tell from these, but Emma looks more like a classic Bond villain – remember, it is based in the 1960s – rather than the White Queen comic readers are familiar with. You know, the one who wears the more “designer” clothes. Relax, she’s outdoors so wait and see.

It’s hard to get get excited about these images alone but some of the backgrounds at least give you an idea of the 1960s era sets we’ll see. They’re just set pictures so don’t judge just yet. Check them out and click to enlarge:

While Mad Men fans are happy to see January pick up the major mutant role, I thought Alice Eve was the better choice by far but hopefully she’ll get her chance at playing a Marvel superhero in Fantastic Four if they can get that off the ground.

As for X-Men: First Class, fans are eager and cautious about the prequel since the last two X-Men films were not hits with critics and a big portion of the fanbase. Add in the casting confusion and the fact that Bryan Singer and director Matthew Vaughn are taking a big risk with First Class, putting it into the 1960s setting and disregarding any relation to the X-Men: First Class comic or its characters, and many don’t know what to expect.

Hopefully we get some pics of the mutant in their classic old school X-Men costumes for which Bryan Singer explained would be a part of the movie.

  1. THIS FILM IS GONNA BE A F&#!ING TRAINWRECK!

    • Excellent! I love trainwrecks!

  2. ME LIKE MINI SKIRTS……….

    • Excellent! I love mini skirts!

      • I love trainwrecks that wear miniskirts…Lindsay Lohan, Snooki Polizzi, Paris Hilton.

        • Hahaha!

  3. I can’t wait to see this movie!!! It will be cool to see the young Xavier and Magneto, considering that X-Men Origins: Magneto was cancelled. I’m sure Vaughn can make this an EPIC movie. Don’t hate it until you see it. These are just early pics, don’t judge the movie based on them.

    • No Ryan I judge the movie on the fact that the only relationship it has to the actual X-Men is that it has characters bearing the same name.
Changing some things to “update” an origin story which occurred in the 60′s I understand, doing what is being done is cashing in and selling out on exactly what made the characters worth reading and taking interest in to begin with. Pass.

      • Tell it T! I agree.
The mess that this movie STRIVES to be.

It’s too bad. If it were to be done with RESPECT and concern FOR THE ORIGINAL WORK/CHARACTERS , it could work AND please fanboys. But, NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

        • That would have been better if you kept the rhyme thing goin.

  4. This Movie Along With Singer & Fox Studios Is Incomprehensively Ridiculous And Deserves Every Expletive To Be Thrown At It.

What An ABOMINATION! I Will Judge It Just By The Silly Pictures Alone. I Don’t Need To See The Movie.

Emma Frost Is One Of The Worst Characters Ever In The X-Men Universe. Never Liked Her. Never Will.

    Hey Look It’s Austin Powers.

    • Agree with you magnetic eye!!! Why the white queen is in this movie? why fox wants to give her so much importance?… there are many villains that should have been in the movie…. in the other hand, where are storm, nightcrawler, collossus? i dont understand why they include havok, “angel”, i wish this know this movie is gonna be a great failure…. FOX RELEASE X MEN RIGHTS!!!

    • Excellent! I love incomprehensively ridiculous studios AND Austn Powers!

  5. Wow i hope they have an excellent lighting guy for this, cause these pics look horrible! Lol!

  6. Wow those are awful. Just for one couldn’t we get something good from this movie? Every thing that’s come out of this film has been awful.

  7. Eww look at those bony ass legs and prodtruding knee caps. Looks like White Queen “on that white” you know what I mean.

  8. White Queen = Crack Queen

  9. wow what a great way to start up some hype….bad set photos
fox sure really knows what they are doing :)

  10. Is this movie intended to ignore X-men Origins: Wolverine? What i mean is Emma Frost being in this film that takes place in the 60′s despite how young shes seen in Wolverine.

    • @Wally West I kn know right. That’s why Fox should’nt be handling this and all because they can’t even follow THEY’RE OWN F-ED UP CONTINUITY! All these people with “yeah I’m looking forward to this movie” quotes must be either on Fox’s marketing payroll or something cuz they seem to not either care nor notice or BOTH!

      • 100% agree!!!!!

      • @ ulik

The more ive read about the movie, the less likely ill see it. It currently doesnt have any character’s i care about to see other than Hank McCoy and im curious what their X-Men costumes will look like. I didnt why Fox allowed the film to take place in the 60′s. In the 90′s X-Men animated series during the Dark Phoenix saga the X-men faced Sabastian Shaw & Emma Frost in what they called The Inner Circle. And that took place in pleasant time, despite their dress code in their club. I didn’t see why do the same and continue from Wolverine. Couldn’t be that hard knowing how Patrick Stewart was still made to look young and the Prof. using his legs. They can still use their ideas of their script except for not having it take place in the 60′s is all. Thats just my opinion. I’ll wait for X4 if it ever gets made. Or wait for X-men to be rebooted because im lost for words about First Class right now.

    • that is why this movie is so frelled .lol

  11. It looks like January Jones can’t get away from that era of clothing. Oh well, she looks good in it.

  12. I want this movie to boom at the box office. So that Disney gets the rights to the X-men back. Fox Studio should get out of making comics into movies. Why? Because all of FOX’s comic book movies sucked!!!!!

  13. From what I heard, this uses a large ammount of the X-Men Origins:Magneto script, so why they are calling it first class is beyond me.

  14. X-Men First Class PFFFF! This movie has NO CLASS!

  15. Oh my god EPIC FAil. The continuity has completely gone down the crapper so at least there will be a reboot if it keeps going like this.

  16. The X Men franchise is becoming terribly convoluted just as the comic couterpart did, the general movie going audience will only take so much, there is no denying this is intended as a reboot. Wolverine didnt fit properly into the continuity, neither does this, and there is a Wolverine sequel already in the works along with X MEN 4.

Its confusing and people will just give up. WHich is good. Maybe then someone can give these characters the films they deserve, Bryan Singer did an admirable if not great job with his two flicks, but it needs a proper reboot and this dung heap aint it!

  17. Yikes… This is looking kinda…bad. Not to mention the only thing I’ve seen January Jones in is the time she hosted “Saturday Night Live” and sucked, so I don’t really care for her at all.

  18. LMAO! AGAIN LMAO! WTF! .LOL!!!!ARE YOU F–ING KIDDING ME RIGHT?!! LOOKS LIKE AN AUSTIN POWERS GO GO GIRL REJECT ..HOWEVER I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE HER BOOTS LOL BUT ONLY BECAuSE I COULD USE THEM FOR A 60s COSTUME LOL!! ..BUT THAT OUTFIT..LMAO! EMMA FROST NO WAY! SHE LOOKS LIKE A RUSSIAN GO GO DANCER LOL! LOL! I HEAR BEATLES AND MONKEYS MUSIC PAYING LOL! THIS FILM IS ALREADY TOILET BOUND..LOL!.LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS !!

  19. i wonder if i wore a big white marshmallow hat i would get laughed at..lol

    • Staypuff marshmellow woman! I thought ghostbusters 3 was still on hold lol!

  20. HA HA HA HA !!!!THE MARSHMALLOW QUEEN.HA! ha! ha !ha .now i’m hungry for smores LMAO!

  21. She’s got great work ethic with that cell phone in hand on set! Lol!

  22. the X-logo tattooed overmy breasts ants to crawl under my skin over thus lmao!

  23. lol it just occurred to me its her name lol! January Jones..white . snow/lol snow queen Jones..lol.. has anyone noticed she looks either peeved or horribly embarrassed in the pics lol!

    • That’s why she’s got the cell in hand in that pic. She’s texting her agent death threats lol!

  24. lol after looking closer i would not doubt that at all, I’m sure she is pissed especially if you look at the top first pic lol in the outfit who wouldn’t..all she needs is either an Easter basket or some ice skates .lol oh god I’m terrible aren’t I :o iLMAO!!

  25. Mr Keyes, with all due respect, do we need to run through the list of potential actors that would have played White Queen (or any other character for that fact)? A character in any movie is going to have several actors testing for them. What matters ultimately is how the final cut turns out. She is in costume now for goodness sake. You don’t need to rehash the “could’ve beens” every time we read about X-Men: First Class developments.

    • Man,what is up with this guy ^ Give Rob a break,I appreciate the news we get from him even with opinions involved, that’s why it’s called SCREENRANT.Your girlfriend just left you or something? Lighten up.

  26. Why do even we even bother anymore.Does anyone actually think that this movie is remotely going to be any good AT ALL.I would really like to be a fly on the wall when these Fox execs are spit balling ideas for a new X-Men movie

    Exec 1: Lets make a new X-Men,,,yeah
and we’ll set it in the swinging 60′s
Exec 2: Yeah, and we’ll put in characters who weren’t around in 60′s like the emma what’s her name, you know that hot bitch in s&m wear.
    Exec 3: Yeah

  27. Why do even we even bother anymore.Does anyone actually think that this movie is going to be remotely good AT ALL.I would really like to be a fly on the wall when these Fox execs are spit balling ideas for a new X-Men movie

Exec 3: Yeah, but wait wasn’t she like in Wolverine.Wasn’t that set in the 80′s or something.
Exec 4: Yeah and we’ll add some new characters who were never part of the original roundup like Darwin.Yeah,we need a token African American character, good for the demographic.
Exec 5:So basically we’re going to throw out any continuity whatsoever.
Exec 6:We need to get this movie out asap so we compete with that other studio who’s making all those crappy Iron Man movies.

Sorry I’m giving these douche bags to much credit in actually knowing anything about the history or characters of the X-Men.
I’m not holding any hope for this movie.Just give the rights back to Marvel and be done with it.
You know the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. This is what Fox is doing.

    • @Mart I actually visualized that meeting in the Fox Exec Office! LOL!!! Epically Funny!

  28. Yeah!… and those boots…. thats another thing… Yeah!

You guys are your funniest when you are actually trying to make sense of things over at Derr Foxx…

  29. Geez, it’s amazing how fickle comic fans have gotten.

I remember when X-Men came out, and how 90-something % of fans were praising Fox up & down, left & right, forward & backward… which continued thru most of the films (Hulk excluded, bleah).

And now, they are talking trash in the same directions. Wow.

Re: Emma’s outfit. Please remember that this is a period piece. Which means it has to be relatively authentic. As far as I can tell, this is typical of the high fashion of the day, and not particularly unusual, especially for a character who, let’s just say, is a bit on the high fashion side (lol). So please leave the Austin Powers jokes at home, and move on with more important discussions. Thanks.
