Tyler Posey’s time on Jane The Virgin was over almost as quickly as it began – here’s what happened to his character Adam Alvaro. Shortly after Tyler Posey finished filming the sixth and final season of Teen Wolf and said farewell to his long-running role as Scott McCall, news broke he had nabbed a recurring role on Jane The Virgin. Posey made his first appearance on the telenovela dramedy in its season 3 finale as Jane Villanueva’s first love Adam Alvaro who – in a massive twist of fate – had in his possession a love letter Jane’s supposedly dead husband Michael had written her before they got married in season 2.

Jane The Virgin revealed Adam was her first love and they shared a lot of history and chemistry. It was revealed Adam and Jane were teenage sweethearts and that when Adam was accepted to study art at New York University, he asked Jane to go with him. Being traditional, Jane didn’t want to live in sin so Adam asked her to marry him. However, Jane’s mother Xo and Abuela Alba soon put the kibosh on their plans when they convinced Adam to break things off and go to New York alone, leaving Jane heartbroken.

When fate brought Jane and Adam – now a comic book artist – back together eight years later sparks flew. By Jane The Virgin season 4 they were dating and Adam even turned down a job opportunity in Los Angeles to stay with Jane. It wasn’t long until the unwritten rule about never getting back with an ex started to ring true for Jane and Adam, however, and they soon started to realize how different and mismatched they were.

Although he showed Jane how to have fun again after losing Michael, Adam was a tad immature (his living room had inflatable furniture, for crying out loud) and he had misgivings about being in a relationship with somebody who had a kid. Similarly, Jane had second thoughts about their relationship when she found out Adam was bisexual. Six episodes into Jane The Virgin season 4 and just as Jane was about to tell Adam she loved him, he decided to take the job in Los Angeles after they offered him a bigger salary, leaving Jane heartbroken once again … but not for too long.

And so Tyler Posey’s short time on Jane The Virgin came to an end after just a handful of episodes. Really, it’s a good thing that Jane and Adam broke up otherwise she might not have ended up with fan-favorite Rafael in the show’s fifth and final season.
