I watched George Reeve as Superman while growing up. I watched Chris Reeve do Superman in the 1970s. I read the comics and they did Superman the was Superman was.

Now everyone wants to do Star Trek different, Batman different and even Sherlock Holmes different. (Thank God Indy's stayed the same but he hasn't been around as long.) Of course they messed with James Bond- I stopped watching that too.

If someone wants to "reboot", "redo", "reimagine" well known characters they should make up their own.

I've given up ever hoping to see "the real" Superman again.

If could do the death of superman like the comics, not the animation, isnt it great. Anyway that Superman Doomsday is a crap.

I really dont mind an orgin story just make it a little differet. In the first superman movie there is a 12 year gap in supermans life. I think they should focus a little on that and how he makes his way to metropalis.

I’m glad that DC no longer has the right to the orgins of Superman. I’m also glad that they are going with someone new to play Superman and that they are giving it a complete reboot, it’s about time. I’m sure what ecer Mctiegue writes if he is doing Superman will be good, hoping with my fingers grossed.

I think they should do the death and resurrection of Superman.

They must keep Routh in any case. There were so many stories that could’ve been told but they had to screw it all up with a lackluster scrpit penned by ameteurs. I personally will have trouble seeing someone else as Superman at this point since a “pissed off” Routh against a greater foe would’ve been a sight to behold. They could’ve just tried adapting one of the episodes from the Animated Series.

Unforunately for Routh fans, the re-boot won’t bring him back.

If they fastrack a new take on Superman, which they need to do due to the legal implications, they’ll pick somebody new to distance themselves from the established franchise and hopefully move forward with an interconnected DC universe.

I dug Routh as supes personally, it’s too bad they didn’t start fresh with him.

I’m excited about the idea of a Flash movie, Green Lantern and a new Superman all starting around the same time and crossing over a la Marvel Studios. It’d be even more epic to see Bale’s Batman somehow involved but that’s a fanboy desire that’ll never come to fruition

“Routh, then 24, had previously already auditioned for director McG and was spotted by Singer after he viewed Routh’s videotaped audition. Singer, who since noted Routh as being the embodiment of “our collective memory of Superman”, was impressed by his resemblance to the comic book icon and found the actor’s humble Mid-western roots perfect for the role, as well as his “combination of vulnerability and confidence” that Singer said reminded him of Christopher Reeve.” Then, “Routh has commented that he feared his performance would too closely resemble that of Christopher Reeve. Routh has said that he hopes to “remind people of Christopher while at the same time making them feel like they’re seeing a totally new Superman”. And he certainly did just that…and also says that he hopes for another opportunity to play the role.

When he was onscreen as Supes, he had an aura about him, and Routh is perfect for the role. How can they even think about recasting? Who would they get better?

They would certainly have to go with an unknown again.

That is the best comment I’ve heard…I think that Brandon Routh was exceptional. When I saw that preview years ago for Superman Returns I thought(unbelieveably)that it was Christopher Reeve!! He sounded just like him and in some shots looked like him. I have been told the same by others as well, so I know it’s not just me. I thought the acting was incredible in he could keep/maintain that character(both) extremely well…so it was dissappointing to find out that his contract had expired.

Is it just me, or was superman done for, and dying- But the exchange of DNA with his kid when he kissed his forehead what made him come back?

- And Vic, Yes he was a creepy stalker, But I liked the idea of him and lois having the kid, do they need to explain how(some say it happened when they had sex in S2 when he had no powers)

I liked Kevin Spacey as Lex, but he should have been dealt with within the first 20 minutes, than onto Bigger bader foes.

I Think they need a darker story with a darker score, but not too dark, just enough so that it shows that Supes is a bit jaded. They need Anomaly as the villain “The Man of Steel vs A Man of Steel”

I’m torn on this: a lot of people under 25 and over 36 honestly HAVE NO CLUE AS TO THE ORIGIN OF SUPERMAN. I had friends from work who actually didn’t know Superman got his powers from a yellow sun. And, they thought Kryptonite was just a song by 3 Doors Down. That said, I’m honestly kinda tired of seeing the origin story myself. I think you could weave the origin into a trilogy or something. Fill in any blanks as you go along. But, when he says things like “…go another direction no one’s expecting…” I cringe. Sounds like another foreigner wanting to make a pathos Superman. If you’re not gonna do it right, just leave him alone. I’m more sick of WB screwing this character left and right with Singer and Smallville. Enough.

make the kid from returns the child of Brainiac. Either make it to where the Clark that Lois slept with in Superman 2 actually was Brainiac, or make the James Marsden character Brainiac in disguise. Far-fetched maybe but I just don’t want another reboot

Hmmm, to be frank I’d like to see some edge to Superman. This doesn’t mean he has to be darker, for that we have Batman. Just a little bit less dead boring would be a beginning.

But this is coming from someone who didn’t care to watch Superman Returns or read many or the comics so you’re free to brush it off.
