Update: Watch part 2 of James Gunn's epic Baby Groot dance!

You can now watch writer/director James Gunn provide the motion-capture Baby Groot dance featured in the title sequence of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. After making more than $800 million in ticket sales at the global box office, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe installment has quickly become a favorite of many viewers who were already taken with the first Guardians movie.

Gunn's plans for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (which is officially happening) will remain largely unclear until, at the earliest, Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters next year. In the meantime, there's a new Guardians theme park attraction up and running now at Disneyland Resort’s Disney California Adventure Park to give Guardians fans their fix - along with smaller tidbits, like the latest Guardians-related video that Gunn has posted to his social media accounts.

Gunn took to his personal Instagram account to unveil a special behind the scenes video, where he provides the mo-cap performance for Baby Groot's dance number (set to the tune of "Mr. Blue Sky") from near the very beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. You can watch said video, which Gunn says he released in celebration of the Guardians movie sequel crossing $800 million at the global box office, below:

Because #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol2 passed $800 million globally here's a clip of me dancing that the marvelous @framestore used as reference for the #BabyGroot dance. As MCU fans the world over continue to anticipate where Gunn will take his comic book franchise next - including, using Guardians 3 and not Infinity War to introduce Adam Warlock to the MCU - they will no doubt continue to delight in the simple pleasures offered by Guardians 2, with both Baby Groot and his dance being among them. Guardians 2 has already outgrossed Guardians 1 at the domestic box office after less than a month of release, so it seems fair to say that moviegoers by and large approve of what the sequel has to offer.

In the meantime, Marvel Studios has fellow Phase 3 movies Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok on the way later this year, meaning the MCU will have two more chances to dominate the box office, both at home and abroad, in 2017. For now, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 fans can rejoice in the effervescent glow offered by Gunn's mo-cap performance as dancing Baby Groot from the movie's stunning and musically-thumping opening title sequence - one that may well go down as one of the very best moments in the history of the franchise.
