One of the most anticipated movies coming out during the Christmas movie season is undoubtedly James Cameron’s 3-D sci-fi movie Avatar. In fact, it could be argued that Avatar is THE most anticipated movie of 2009. At least, that is what James Cameron and Fox are hoping. They haven’t been shy about drumming up hype for Avatar, either.
Earlier this month we got our first look at a Na’vi toy, the alien race that lives on the planet Pandora where the film is mostly set. While interesting, the toy wasn’t as mind-blowing as I was hoping. Of course it is just a toy, so it may not be a fair representation of the actual creature. Now, Peter Sciretta at /Film, has nabbed a better look at the Na’vi and Avatar star Sam Worthington as Jake Sully.

Lots of blue going on in this photo and I’m not sure what to make of it. The Na’vi looks a lot better in a high res, rather than as a plastic toy. I haven’t seen any footage from the film yet, so I’m not really sure what I’m supposed to be looking at. To me, it would appear that a Na’vi is in a repair or healing chamber of some sort. Almost anytime someone in a sci-fi movie is in laying in a fluid-filled chamber, they have been hurt and are using it to recover.
I sort of hope I’m wrong in my assumption because three days ago Cameron was talking about how original the Avatar movie is, and I got to be honest: people recovering from wounds in a fluid-filled tube, chamber or tub is not very original. Maybe somebody out there who has seen more footage from the film can shed some light on this?
