It could also mean the movie industry has dryed up completely of ordinary ideas, and someone somewhere just HAD to come up with a fresh take on the business.

Im all for that and all, im just not too exited just yet until I see it for myself. And hell, the concept of Avatar sounds rather interesting. Could be a good movie aswell without the 3D

Yep GK, my point exactly. Just some casual viewers saying it looks “cool” is one thing, but for a major movie director to say he will spend the extra money and risk the limited theater showings because he’s THAT impressed with the technology, that’s really saying something.

If the people who work behind the cameras are this impressed with what they have seen of this technology then my curiosity is getting really piqued for Avatar..Let’s face it Scott has seen it all in the 30+ years he has been directing..It would really have to be something remarkable for him to endorse it in this way..All signs seem to be pointing to this taking off..

Nice to see Scott giving Cameron’s film a thumbs up, of sorts. Although, I’m wondering if that’s simply a reaction to the effects versus the overall quality of the film. One has to wonder.

Well here’s another opinion from someone with good enough movie sense to know the difference between gimmick and something good, and again, overwhelmingly positive about what he’s seen of Avatar. Very good news.
