Jaimie Alexander Sif Thor 2 The Avengers Jaimie Alexander Talks Sif in Thor 2 & The Avengers
Jaimie Alexander is an actress on the rise at the moment – thanks in large part to her role as Asgardian warrior Lady Sif in Marvel’s Thor last year. While Alexander has big things on the horizon – such as a starring role in the upcoming Arnold Schwarzenegger comback vehicle, The Last Stand - comic book fans are likely more interested in her upcoming appearances in Marvel movies like Thor 2 - and of course, this summer’s superhero team-up, The Avengers.

Alexander recently spoke to MTV about both films, and talked a bit about where they might take Sif. On the Thor 2 front: the actress confirmed the news that Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor will be helming the Thor sequel, and also that (as per her contract) she will once again be appearing as Sif. As for how her character will fit into the next film: Alexander is an admitted comic book geek, and so she’s interested in seeing if (as per the comics) the romance between Sif and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) blossoms a bit more. However, with the recent news that the Thor 2 script is being revised by Saving Private Ryan scribe Robert Rodat, Alexander couldn’t really speak about what story beats and/or developments we’ll see in the sequel…because she herself doesn’t know yet.

On the subject of The Avengers, things got a bit more interesting: Alexander was coy and careful when it came to claiming “yay” or “nay” about her involvement in Joss Whedon’s epic superhero team-up flick. She ultimately gave what has become the standard answer for most of the supporting actors in any Marvel movie – which is to say, “I don’t know yet.”

While it’s a bit late in the game to be floating that line (The Avengers hits theaters in mere months), it’s not entirely without precedent: Marvel studios has been notorious for playing things close to the vest, sometimes waiting until the very last minute to call upon actors for cameos or other such involvement in their films. Given where Thor left off, plus Loki’s presence in The Avengers, it’s not unthinkable that Sif (and Asgard itself) would make an appearance in the film – but in all likelihood that appearance will be brief, if it happens at all.

Check out Jaimie Alexander’s chat with MTV below to hear the actresses claims for yourself.

The Avengers will be in theaters on May 4, 2012

  1. I find it hard to believe she’s a comic book fanatic, also her relationship with thor is going nowhere as long jane is still in the picture and don’t forget enchantress will be in the sequel as well.Damm thor you got alot of women on your jock to choose from. And finally i doubt she’ll be in avenger’s in a cameo but nothing’s for certain.

    • If I were Thor, I’d pick the lady Sif without a doubt ;)

      • true story

    • Why is that so hard to believe?

      • If you are referring to me the fact is alot of these studios tell the women to say they are comic book heads to please the real fans so they will be accepted more with open arms, when in fact women in the past who are in these movies say they were comic fans later on when you ask them certain questions they look dumb founded. She might be a real comic fan who knows, but i seriously doubt it.

    • In Mythology, Sif is married to Thor, so I wouldn’t rule her out quite yet.

      • If Sif sees Thor with Jane Foster, Sif is going to kill her.

Hell (or Valhalla) hath no fury like a woman scorned!

  2. Hope shes back in Thor2 I liked her in thor

  3. Good Actress. Fits the role of Sif perfectly. Her character development is needed in the next film. But there are so many issues that need to be address and other characters that need to be developed.
Thor 2 has a lot on the plate and then there’s the story in general and the Marvel Universe tie-in to consider…

No wonder they needed another writer.

    • “No wonder they needed another writer.”

How so? From what I understand from a previous article they brought in another writer(s) to go over the script to ‘fit’ the new director….

The story for Patty may have been fine for Patty but apparently it is not for Alan. Which has always boggled me….. and will probably continue to boggle me.

  4. I know Sif has never been a part of the avengers but in the “movie-verse” I very much preffer her to say black widow and after seeying thor kind of hoped tht her character would follow thor to earth seeying as loki is the main villain and all and giving an extra subplot of potential romance for thor (something that could be developped further in thor 2). Ah well, as great as i beleive the avengers will be I’m somewhat more interested at this point in the movies that will follow it as I’m thinking these will largely determine the future of marvels success.

  5. Well of course she’d want their relationship to blossom, she’d get way more screen time, hype and there would be more of a chance of her appearing in more sequels. But personally, I’m pretty tired of this entire Thor/Jane thing. I’d rather just stick to the comics and have their relationship sort of depend on… stuff :p

  6. Well… this is why I don’t like Thor (the comics). Sif was Thor’s wife, for one thing, and a very beloved one at that. Plus her nickname was Sif of Golden Hair. And after Loki cut off her hair and Thor threatened to smash his head in, he got the dwarves to make her literal gold hair that feels and grows like the real thing (he also brought Mjolnir, the Hammer of Thor, Draupnir, the Ring of Odin, Gungnir, the Spear of Odin, and Freyr’s boar Gullinbursti among other things). That was most of her mythic appearances, aside from mentions as the wife of Thor. How do you mess that up so completely?

  7. WTF. I read somewhere that “Jaimie Alexander” played Lady Sif in Thor 2 and I thougth “Why didn’t Michelle Monaghan reprised her role??”. I just realized it was always this chick. I had seen Thor at least 3 times. I’m such a moron.
