John Krasinski has finally been unveiled as the titular character in a new teaser video for the upcoming Amazon Prime series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Krasinski has undergone quite a career transformation since his breakthrough role in The Office, the smash documentary-style comedy series that ran for nine seasons on NBC, from 2005 to 2013.

Proving he has talents beyond the comedy realm, Krasinski has appeared in the true-life war drama 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Bengazhi in 2016, and most recently, director Kathryn Bigelow's historical crime drama Detroit. Now, Kransinski is leaping into the action adventure realm with Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, an Amazon Prime original series that examines the famed author's creation, as the up-and-coming CIA analyst takes on a dangerous assignment in the field for the first time.

According to Amazon Prime, Ryan's story will be told over eight, one-hour episodes, where the character "uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale."

While Amazon Video has released previous video teasers for Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, this new one showcases Ryan himself for the first time. The 35-second teaser shows a clip set somewhere in the Middle East, where two men are taken in hoods to an undisclosed location. When the hood is removed from one of the men, it is revealed that he is sitting across the table from Ryan, who slides forward a cell phone and says, "All the accounts link back to this phone. We know who you are."

While the brief scene doesn't reveal much of the show's plot, it definitely sets the tone for the series, and instantly establishes just how convincing Krasinski playing a role that he's typically not been associated with. Still, as anyone who has seen 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi knows, Krasinski has indomitable presence about him when it comes to playing things serious, and the actor should thus be up to the task when it comes to portraying Clancy's iconic character.

With any luck, fans will embrace this new iteration of Ryan - a character who has been played by a handful of high-profile actors over the years, from Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford to Ben Affleck and Chris Pine. The latter starred in director Kenneth Branagh's film reboot of the series - Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, which failed to find a large audience when it was released in theaters in 2014.

Like the 2014 film, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan will focus on the younger version of the CIA analyst, with the big difference being that the series will have eight hours to help develop the character and get a better look as to why readers have embraced Ryan in Clancy's 24 novels that feature the character.
