With the announcement that FX is debuting its sister channel FXX later this fall, the network showed a desire to expand, but not necessarily change. With a slew of successful shows - including JustifiedSons of Anarchy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League - there's no reason for FX to change its lineup. The network simply wants to offer more of the same to its loyal viewership and introduce new audiences to its unique and original brand of programming.

Along with the grand unveil of its sister station FXX, FX also announced that a few of its hit comedies are being renewed for future seasons and will be moving to the new channel this fall to help get it off the ground.

The network ordered It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 10, The League season 6 and season 2 of burgeoning rookie Legit, all three of which will premiere on FXX in the fall of 2014.

Considering Sunny and The League's standing among top cable shows in the most coveted demographics for their respective time slots, the renewals are not all that surprising. What is somewhat surprising - and still makes sense from a business standpoint - is that the network is moving both shows to FXX starting this fall for their ninth and fifth seasons respectively.

The hilarious antics of both the narcissistic, yet affable Paddy's Pub gang and the group of overly-intense fantasy football fanatics will still be easy to find over on the other channel, and will give FX's baby sister a built-in audience from which to grow. It certainly looks like FX has everything figured out to ensure a win-win for all parties involved.

As fans, we'll just have to hope that the new seasons continue to bring the funny and stay fresh. Both shows have premises and set-ups that could easily get tired or stale, but so far, the well-drawn characters and sharp writing on both programs have prevented that from happening.
