Ahead of the release of IT, the evil shape-shifter entity will arrive in the form of four different Pennywise Funko Pop! figures. Stephen King’s supernatural horror novel IT was famously adapted into a television miniseries back in 1990, with Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown. Now 27 years later comes a new film adaptation, with director Andy Muschietti on the lead and Bill Skarsgard as the new Pennywise.

With the release date fast approaching and the new IT trailer having just premiered at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, the studio behind the film is upping its marketing game. Surely, we can’t expect too many toys inspired by the terrifying clown Pennywise, but one company that is never left behind with movie toy tie-ins - no matter the genre - is Funko.

The fan and collectors’ favorite toy company has revealed their upcoming figures of evil clown Pennywise toys. Those interested in having a Pop! vinyl of Skarsgard’s incarnation of Pennywise will have the chance to get four variants: the first one is Pennywise with Georgie's paper boat, followed by a sepia version – a “1-in-6 rarity”, so keep your eyes open.

A classic Pennywise image is that of the evil clown with a red balloon, so be on the lookout for this Hot Topic exclusive Pop! vinyl. In addition to that, Pennywise with a wig (as seen on the IT trailer, during the vintage photos scene) will be a Walmart exclusive. These four figures will be available in early September, in time for the release.

IT – also known as IT: Part 1 – The Losers’ Club – is intended to be the first installment of a duology, with the second film dealing with the adult versions of the kids from the “Losers’ Club”. Set in the summer of 1989 (contrary to the novel, set in the 1950s), a group of young kids come face to face with their biggest fears when they discover a shape-shifter entity who may be linked to the recent cases of missing children in the town.

It’s worth noting that, while Funko is known for its attention to detail, these figures are as heavily-detailed as Skarsgard’s costume. The facial expressions, the make-up, the teeth, and naturally the costumes in these figures make them especially worth adding to the collection. While Funko didn’t share if this is a first wave of toys, it’s fair to say that, once the film is out, the company will release more Pennywise variants and most likely figures of the members of the “Losers’ Club”.
