For many film fans, A24 has quickly become recognized as one of the best and most reliable film studios operating within the entertainment industry today. After making a name for themselves initially in the indie scene with critically-acclaimed films like Spring Breakers, Ex Machina, The Rover, Under the Skin, and more back in 2013 and 2014, the studio has managed to finally break into the awards circuit over the past two years. Currently, the studio is raking in awards left and right for some of their 2016 films, including Moonlight, 20th Century Women, and The Lobster.

But that hasn't stopped the studio from already hyping up their 2017 slate of films either, which is beginning to look just as interesting and exciting as any of their previous years. Right at the center of that lineup is Trey Edward Shults' It Comes at Night too, a brand-new horror film starring Joel Edgerton, Riley Keough, Christopher Abbott, Carmen Ejogo, and more.

Following the release of the film's teaser poster yesterday, the studio has unveiled the first teaser trailer for It Comes at Night online today. Only offering brief hints at the film's subject matter, the trailer itself is mostly comprised of disturbing images, brief shots at its main characters, eerie dialogue, and some truly top-notch editing. All of this combines to make it one of the better trailers released in 2017 thus far. Check it out for yourselves, above.

From the very beginning, A24's success can mostly be attributed to their desire and willingness to work with bright, distinctive young filmmakers and voices just breaking out onto the scene. It Comes at Night only continues that trend, with Shults himself coming off of the immense critical acclaim he received for last year's Krisha, which was made on a shoestring budget and featured all previously-unknown actors. So it only makes sense then for Shults to begin moving into a different tier of filmmaking with a much more star-studded cast this time around, and more hype going behind it than he could have ever created prior to Krisha's release.

Now, A24 has had immense success with horror films throughout the years. Just last year even, they released one of the most critically acclaimed horror films of all time with The Witch, which went on to become one of the more financially successful additions to the genre in 2016.Whether or not It Comes at Night is able to garner similar critical attention and recognition will have to wait to be seen, but based purely on this trailer and the talent involved, It Comes at Night looks to be one of this year's can't-miss horror films.

It Comes at Night hits theaters on August 25th, 2017.
