I suppose someone capable of handling a Rome roll (I’ve never seen the show) is capable of handling the hammer of Thor. Never under estimate the power of CG and a great cinematographer (though we don’t know who that’ll be yet do we?)

Who else could do the character justice without being a complete flake? I have no idea. It’s gotta be someone great though. Not just anyone can play the son of Zeus.

Screen Rant says:

I’ve never seen the show either, but from the photos I have seen he looks like he plays a fairly powerful man. I agree that they’ll need not only someone with a strong physical presence but an excellent actor as well or this could very easily slide into camp.

Mike says:

He’s a better pick than who Marvel apperently wants, that person being Triple H. But I think he needs to have a beard though.

Alcadyzaar says:

There is always Kevin Sorbo. He played Zeus’ son once.

LMAO

Ok… seriously….

Alcadyzaar says:

Yikes….

Thor is the son of Odin, not Zeus. I knew that statement didn’t sit well with me for a reason.

Forgive me Mr. Vermillion… =\

Brian says:

Thanks for correcting me on that one. It didn’t sound right but I wasn’t going to Wikipedia it either. :-) Sometimes I just feel like being a lazy bum.

Whomever they get to play the part it’ll be a lot more about story line considering that there’s a LOT of comic book stuff out there and it’ll be important to the audience that they remain true to it as much as is possible.

T. says:

Mckidd is an excellent choice! He’s intense, can handle action, and is a very strong actor. I can’t believe more of you haven’t watched Rome, the best show on television of the last decade.

Negro, OUT!~

adrian says:

Kevin McKidd(age:34) is just not intimidating or tall enough, maybe could play the part of Dr.Blake… My top pick for the moment is Vladimir Kulich. Vladimir Kulich is(age:41)would be a great fit. Kulich was the main Viking hero in the 13th Warrior-starring Antonio Banderas and did a great job with the role. Kulich has the intimidating presents and acting ability to be taken serious oppose that of Triple H.

Karyyk says:

Unless he’s been ruled out on account of age, I’d say Vladimir Kulich all the way. That being said, the guy is 51, so I’m not so sure he’s even in the running (he was born in ‘56, just checked on IMDB). Even if he isn’t in the running, if I were Marvel I’d be looking for someone more similar to him.

As for McKidd, he might not be the worst choice, but he looks more like Aquaman than Thor. That’s not the best observation one could make…

Adrian says:

Here’s a new face and would be better pick for Thor… Conan Stevens.

Conan Stevens’s Mini Bio:7′1/4″ tall 319lbs(very intimidating)

Perfectly Trained For Action Roles – 9 years of professional wrestling (National Champion), 13 years bodyguard and security work, various martial arts training, military trained in firearms, guns and explosives, 2 years melee weapons training (sword, axe, shield, etc). Athletic, competed in multiple sports at state and national level.
Versatile – Experience in a wide range of roles including comedy, action, dance theatre, horror, and drama. Can play a variety of characters with proficiency.
Experienced – 12 years of acting with credit in 7 different movies, 4 TV appearances (plus several interviews), 10 TVC’s and 9 years live theatre I am the biggest professional actor working today.

Alcadyzaar says:

What are the chances of Marvel shooting an unknown to star in this role?

KEL says:

I like him! He looks like he’ll be able to potray both Dr. Don Blake and Thor well. If they use the Classic version like I’m hoping they will. Sorry, but there’s just not as much story to Ultimate Thor than there is to Classic Thor. And he beats the $@#! out of Triple H.

Screen Rant says:

I think that to most people (myself included) McKidd is an unknown.

Vic

WarranPeace says:

Kevin McKidd is an excellent actor and would do an amazing job as Thor. Anyone who’s seen him in Rome knows exactly how imposing he can be and as Vorenus he cut down many a foe. There isn’t a wrestler that can bring a comparable dramatic performance. Fans and Marvel have to decide if they merely want someone who’ll look good in promotional stills holding a hammer, or someone who can genuinely bring the character to life and excite an audience.

Btw, Kulich is 51 not 41 and, unfortunately, looking a bit too long in the tooth for the role. And, as an actor, he’s simply not in the same league as McKidd.

Screen Rant says:

You know, if you take pretty much any mesomorph body-type actor and put him on a strict bodybuilding and nutrition program for 4-6 months you’ll end up with a pretty beefy guy. So no need to cast a wrestler who can’t act.

Vic

KEL says:

Agreed.

Jen says:

I don’t think Kevin McKidd is right for Thor…His voice most certainly could do it…but not him. If you’re going by look, you need Vladimir Kulich…That is most certainly a good Thor.

Quicksilver says:

Triple H is the man for the job. the guy stands at 6′4, as well

mighty guy says:

Triple H is the perfect man to play Thor.

Ronster says:

Kevin McKidd would be an excellent choice to play the god of thunder. He’s a great actor, & can play the warrior part with such intensity (see ROME). His voice can deliver compelling speeches that befit the thunder god.

Place McKidd in an intense weight training program & he would be perfect for the role.

Mark Kuykendall says:

He’s just not tall enough. Thor is a god, he’s got to look like one. 6′4″ minimum.

Jv says:

Vladimir Kulich all the way.

He can still handle roles like The Beast in Angel, which includes over 50 lbs or prostetics and some pretty physical stuff, and he’s an absolutley amazing actor.

McKidd just isn’t Thor material. : /

zima miller says:

what about that guy (i don’t know his name) but he played in the “13th Warrior” as a viking leader big blonde haired guy. he would be a good Thor to me.

dabase says:

paul levesque is the man!!!!!!!

dabase says:

TRIPLE H
TRIPLE H
TRIPLE H
TRIPLE H
TRIPLE H
TRIPLE H
TRIPLE H IS THE THOR!!!!!
