I totally agree Liz. I know each major film studio, Paramount, sony, Wb, Universal and Fox all have divisions within them that do nothing but plan the next tv remake.
^
I believe there are 2 main reasons for this ...
^
1st, They reap the benifits of re-interest in their old shows, Get Smart, Dukes of Hazzard. You notice how remasted dvd sets of the tv shows come out the same time the film comes out. Easy money for the studios and they also select films that have the least left alive stars and and writers, so they don't have to pay rolyaties.

Reason 2, these films are made real cheap and with unseasoned writers and directors.
This way the studios don't have to cut them in on producer bonuses etc. Its also considered like the minor leagues of film. A training ground for newbees.
^
Its all about the money. The creatitvity is there but its cutback on to make easy money on these reboots.
Steve

I know it will make money just on the novelty factor, but what is with Hollywood's deplorable habit of exploiting old shows - shows that worked in their context, in their time - and trying to update them into movies? The Dukes of Hazzard was a horrible disaster, but I don't think anyone learned from it. Which isn't to say The A-Team won't surprise me, but I don't really have all that much faith.

And probably Ice Cube can say "Foo!", "Sucka!" and all those other B.A. lingo much better than Michael Clark Duncan or Michael Jai White. But Ice Cube should workout to make him convincingly "helluva tough", just like how B.A. was supposed to be, and there should be scenes of B.A. grabbing some suckas by the collar or belt and throwing them around.

Physically, Michael Clark Duncan or Michael Jai White would make a better BA but Ice Cube has that atitude and facial expression that would make it work. I also think Ice Cube is one darn good rapper actor, second only to Will Smith.

Thanks for putting this up Vic, I was a huge fan of The A Team, still am I guess.! Really felt they could have started this film franchise when the show went off the air but anyway...
^
(IMO, from what I've heard of the script) I think this production is BLOWING a great opportunity to re-connect the old A Teamers with a new young group.
^
The only actor that's dead is George Peppard,
(Right?)*
^
They could write a story about how the remaining memebers while visiting Hannabels gravesite get involved with another group of A-Team Marines say from Iraq that are accused of some crime they didn't commit. They could be running the story on tv and the A Team see it and
get involved.

They sense that destiny has brought them out of retirement one last time together its what Hannabil would have wanted.
(At this point BA has gotten over his fear of flying by ((insert funny reason here)) ,..

So they set out to help this new A Team clear there name or die trying.

Of course there could be a secondary plotline as well. Maybe to bring out a hot female character. The A Team always had one. Thell need 2 this time.
(Insert cool finale here)...
( I'm not going to do all the work)
But that more or less would have been my outline.
^
^
I love those actors and I don't want to see them thrown out.
You (studios), think I'm going to pay money to see Ice Cube play MrT?
All save you 150 million. "No"
^
This auto-reboot trend is truly disgusting in so many creative ways.
^
(Studios)
Try to be more creative out there in your script selections.
In the long run you'll make more money too.
And that all you care about anyway!
