If CW and the new producers of smallville are smart they will run two more seasons( 9 & 10). Tom Welling should be given one heck of new contract besides letting him direct more episodes. Smallville as well as tom welling have a HUGE fan base - so CW make a smart move and keep tom welling for two more seasons!!!

Vic
I agree with you about smallville going beyond the stopping point. It has gotten harder for me to even watch the show because the plots have become so far fetched that its downright stupid! Now dont get me wrong, initally the show was a hit with me and my children, but I believe that they have left the point where the show was simple to follow and led it down a road that is winding and possibly leading to a dead end! I mean veritas! what the heck is that all about, now we have a group of people waiting on supermans arrival! that really changes the story line, and almost makes it into a Christ like figure, u know the wise men awaiting the messiah!

Stargate SG-1 shouldn't have just ended after RDA left. The Ori arc was needed to hopefully bring further trust from the ascended Atlantians in the story line. The execution of it, however, was not up to par. Season 10 seemed abbreviated because they knew it was the last season.

In any case, Smallville jumped the shark with me 2 seasons ago because it is a-number one the most stretched and milked and bilked storyline in the history of TV serials. They needed to have had Clark become more like Superman by now and also finally make some decisions about his future long ago. I don't care about the exact comparison to the comics, thats just silly. There are many different re-tellings of the Superman story. However Smallville just doesn't know when to quit and arc and move on with some real closure, results, or upgrades in Clarks' abilities. I still watch it "just in case" but I realize that is what they have been banking on for at least 2 seasons because they don't have anything else.

Smitty,

The Black Canary in the comix may have had SLIGHT hookerish overtones, namely because of the fishnet stockings but she NEVER looked like a damn skank like she does here in Coolville. She doesn't even look hot....can you say el dyke-o much? ;-)

BC in the comix, specifically in the Silver Age stories, always looked like a superhero even with the fishnets. She had bucaneer high heeled boots with fishnet/gray pants, black shirt and blue over jacket. She looked hot. She looks best in the JLU cartoon,IMO,cuz the fishnets (dumb idea) are non existant because they didn't translate well into animation. No one'd mistake her as a ho. Now currently she looks a bit more "street walker-ish" in the comix but it isn't completely overboard like here in Smallville. Short hair with big dude burns and painted mask (WTF???? BC doesn't wear a mask!!!),WB has dropped the ball AGAIN in translating another classic comix character to TV (they do it with films too, mostly because of Jon Peters,IMO. See here:http://singerssupermansucks.blogspot.com/2007/12/jon-peters-is-class-act.html).

Kyle,
The Black Canary has always looked like a "street walker" or a little skanky as you put it. That has been gone over and joked about many times in the comics. So no true issue there.

Vic,

We will see, I hope your are wrong. It seems everything is swirling after the crazy writer's strike. I hope they can pull back off of this nose dive some seem to be seeing. Even my my Fav Jericho seems to be off target, so I have no clue what the future holds for our favorite shows.

Thank you for being able to appreciate mt humor. Outside of Myspace I spend most of my time here. Thank you for all of the time you spend to help keeping nerds like me well informed.

Smitty, you're funny. :-)

But if a show loses it, it loses it. Even if a Star Trek show stinks I'll say so, and I'm a huge Trek fan.

Best,

Vic

That alright, I know you try hard. Nobody is right all the time. You keep it pretty close, but I understand. We will keep you in our prayers while you recover from this laps in judgment.

Vic keep it rockin, keep it straight, and keep it pumpin. We love you out here, so stay off my Smallville. lol

Kel,
I understand why you want smallville to follow the comics, since you read them. But the truth is, that I didn't got hooked on Smallville only because of the superman mythos, but also because of the relationships, the plot, the actors and the great quality of the show.! :-) (And yes, I hope the creators change their mind and make Clark fly because I've been waiting this for years!!!)

Kel: We actually did see a cape--the movie starlett who filmed in Smallville gave one to him as a token of gratitude (I know, it's not the real cape from his baby blanket or whatever).

Two questions.

The first season had a few scenes of Clark floating above his bed. As soon as he awoke, he would fall onto the bed. Was this a precursor to flying, or was this some Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex stuff at work ;-)

The opening montage has Jimmy Olsen lunging for a falling kryptonite crystal. Can anyone recap for me what this scene was from--or has it aired yet? (I don't need details, just the basic.)

I like the show, and although they aren't connecting as much to the comics as some fans would like, they're just trying to make it their own at the same time. Give them a break.

The Black Canary did look a little skanky, though.

Ha! LOL,Andy. I get out plenty.... .:-D

I'm just a bit of a Superman purist,so Smallville annoys me a bit.

I don't usually don't like reinventions of things, especially my fave comic book characters.

But kudos to you if you like it. :-)

And I don't think Dubya realizes there's a Constitution.... ;-)

It's a STORY-FICTION! It's not like they're George W. trying to re-write the Constitution! They're taking the basic premise of Superman and exploring it. I have no problem with that, in fact I really enjoy Smallville. The only thing that gets me is that Clark should be FLYING already!!!

QUOTE FROM HELENFROMGREECE: "We shouldn't stick to the comics."

Umm....why? They're COMIC book characters! Everything that we know about ANY of them came from a COMIC! Why in the hell would and should we forsake the source material?

Smallville having its own universe and being "Ultimate" Superman is fine, just don't expect longtime Superman or comix fans to like it for obvious reasons.

"THe differnce is that in the comics, suprman is the hero, and Clark Kent more just like a disguise."

That is true in SOME versions,in the comix it often depends on who is writing him. For instance, the John Byrne version (the best and my fave) has it so Metropolis Clark and Superman are more facades and Smallville Clark is the real person. Superman is just something he does,in this version Clark is clearly the more dominant persona, and although both Superman AND Clark are one and the same,it isn't like when he's Clark his morals and ideals suddenly change,he just downplays his abilities and pretends to be human. Of course there are other versions of Superman that have Superman/Kal El being the dominant persona and Clark as just something Superman does, which,IMO,doesn't really make sense,as Clark was raised here on earth and assumed he was human like us until his teens when he learned about his homeworld which is long dead,so why he would then suddenly get a mentality that's like "well...I'm not Clark anymore,I have to be and think like an alien now" and just forget his being raised as a human being,as a Kansas "born" Kent, makse no sense to me. It should always be CLARK from Smallville, who doesn't have to pretend to be "normal" or wear a costume and be on patrol all the time, that is the "real" person. Smallville Clark is the Clark who can be...er...for lack of a better word "honest" about everything and who he is. He doesn't have to keep secrets there so it makes sense to me that THAT Clark is the "real" person.

Shoot....I just went on a rambling rant again... ;-) :-D

Point being, that Superman in the comix isn't ALWAYS written as Clark being a facade and that he IS written as Clark being the "real" person and Superman just being something he does, depending on the writer. :-)

"And by the way, the performances from the actors are great!"

I agree. I think Welling is great and so are Rosenbaum and Durance. I also liked Brandon Routh as Superman,I hope he gets a chance to play him again cuz he was the best thing about Superman Returns. :-)

Why do all people want smallville to follow the superman mythos according to the comics and the movies?Smallville has definitely created its own universe and is not about superman, but about Clark Kent. THe differnce is that in the comics, suprman is the hero, and Clark Kent more just like a disguise. But this is not the case here. It's all about Clark. We shouldn't stick to the comics. And by the way, the performances from the actors are great!

Jessica,I have to agree with you. Smallville really ISN'T a Superman show cuz Superman is pretty much non existant in it. It's not even accurate with the comix,Clark didn't become Superman until AFTER he left Smallville, he also DIDN'T meet Braniac,Luthor,Lois,Jimmy,Perry, work at the Planet, etc until he was SUPERMAN and had left Smallville to live in Metropolis. And he certainly didn't help form a premature JLA when he lived in Smallville. Matter of fact, the whole show is premature as far as Superman is concerned.

And of course he should be flying!

But that's the thing about Smallville, anything iconic about Superman (flying, costume, secret identity, etc) is FORSAKEN. As I said,it's Superman without Superman. They don't even have intentions of having actual Superman (costume, cape, etc) EVER on the show! So what we have now on the show is pretty much as close to the Superman that we know and love as the show's gonna get.

It's just another outlet that WB uses to crap on Superman, guys. They screwed his continuity up in comix and made him a deadbeat,out-of-wedlock dad (rape?????) in Superman Returns and they continue to crap Superman up weekly with their alternative version of him in Smallville. Over the past decade, outside of animation,WB has done nothing good for Superman,IMO.

OFF SUBJECT: Jon Peters should be fired!! That or dragged into the street and shot.
