Endri, that trash talk was actually sorta for Vic. Since he ignored it, and you said FU, I guess Hulk humor doesn’t work on Sundays.

Kahless, I like your Klingon talk. Funny you should use the words “under armor” as the “underarmor” commercial last night was cool but very evasive. Still not exactly sure how that ad sold anything like the product name.

steve adams says:

Haha Jim, I think alot of people lost big bucks on the football game.

Weirdest thing at my bank today the atm’s were all sucked dry for cash.

steve adams says:

I sure hope this film dosnt have alot of speedmetal rock like, Audioslave. And yes even Black Sabbeth is tired and wornout.
^
If the action scenes art overlaid with speed metal that’s Deffinitly Strike 1 agaisnt.
^
Call me an old crusty barnicle, but I would really prefer an Orchestrated soundtrack. Something grand!!!

Let’s not sell out to every song that has the words Iron Man in it. Gheeesh

steve adams says:

Zipper, I just recently watched an episode of Monk for the first time and I have to report that the show was very funny.

Tony Shalhoub was great in Galaxy Quest and its nice to see his comedic talents in Monk.

He really has great comedic timing!

Jim Carey says:

I like the sound & music on the trailer AND the commercial. It is a perfect match to a badass impression. Obviously “heavy metal” is in keeping with the very name. (I’ve never heard either full song). Steve, speaking of hero names in songs, are you looking for Magneto & Titanium Man (and the Crimson Dynamo)? Superman & Green Lantern?

I get real tired of the all purpose vocal opera (ah ah oh oh) stuff. They had that for the Prince Caspian ad. That ad was crap because it was just random scenes–derivative of the first movie. Prince Caspian was the lamest of the Narnia books, but hey, give viewers an idea of the STORY.

steve adams says:

Yea Jim, Audioslave=garbage.
(In my oldman opinion). Haha

This same topic came up with a younger bud of mine when we were talking about the “rage against the machine” speedmetal music at the end of the Matrix films.
(Gawd I hated that crap).

He told me that. they’re lyrics are very controversial and relevent to the darkness in society. My reply to him was “that’s great, what lyrics?”

All I heard was a bunch of noise and a vocalist that sounded like he was being tortured by Jack Bauer. :)

stamar says:

well i just want to add that it was difficult to figure out what the song was based on the short clip with no vocals but i did compare and its all from the first 15 secs of cochise, which is not metal by anyones definition although it is related to rage against the machine being the same band with a different singer. just patting myself on the back

steve adams says:

Yeah Stemar, I was one of the 6 people in the solar system that didn’t watch the game yesterday. I only saw the photos so far.
But when I heard. Audioslave on this post. I had to run to the bathroom.

I just don’t dig that sound man.

Heath says:

I was working today with a bunch of guys and gals who saw the trailer last night and they were PUMPED. Most of them aren’t comic book fans by any measure, but they’re excited about Iron Man! YEAH!

heath

steve adams says:

Oops sorry for that mispell Stamar.

Let’s just hope they never use the song “wish I could fly like a superman” by the Kinks in the next Superman film.

Great song but come on….. :)

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

Hey John, where did you see that ridiculous “warrior” comment? Dumbest comment ever…

Vic

Hey, that wasn’t me, it was Kahless. And I don’t think you want Kahless to hear you call his statement dumb.

Your blood shall pave the way to the future, petaQ!!!!

Too late. :o )

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

Klingon humor just dosnt work on a Monday. John.
Steve Adams

It’s Tuesday now, petaQ, so what’s your excuse now??!! Weakling hu-maaan!!

Don’t fret Kahless; he hasn’t had his daily supply of gagh yet (served live, of course).

Klingon talk???!! That was weakling human talk!! This is Klingonese: Hab SoSlI’ Quch!! ghuy’cha’!!!

I would translate for you but I think Vic would kick me off. :o )

I don’t remember seeing an add for “underarmor”. Did it appear before or after the IM spot?

steve adams says:

I recognise the House of Kaless, but sheesh. Cut back on the Petaq bombs this is a Federation endorsed site. :)

Vic says:

You guys are geeks after my own heart. :-)

John, it was before the Iron Man commercial. I suspect that you saw it but were befuddled as many as to the product.

Or maybe you and two wenches were playing pin the tail on the pain stick.

Andy says:

I have to say that I LOVED the trailer, and I LOVED the outcome of the game! LOL!! I was VERY doubtful of RDJ as IM, but he seems to be made for the part! Oh, and I thought the trailer with Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” was incredible and very appropriate. I got chills during it.

And Steve, Rage Against the Machine is NOT speed metal. Industrial metal, maybe, but PLEASE PLEASE don’t call them speed metal. That is an insult to great bands like Megadeth, Overkill, Anthrax and Flotsam and Jetsam. LOL

steve adams says:

Sorry Andy, how bout the term, crap-metal?

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

Or maybe you and two wenches were playing pin the tail on the pain stick.

ROTFLMBO!!

I went to the link you provided and yes, I do remember that add.

Oh, and Kahless wants you to stay right where you are while he energizes his forward disruptors. :o )

Jim Carey says:

Kahless, feel free to e-mail me so I don’t hijack this thread completely off topic?

KEL says:

WOW! This was very cool,IMO. It was great to see a little more of the Iron Monger in action.

I agree tho,the scene at the end there with the tank DID seem a little unfinished. Still cool tho….. ;-)

I remember some previous posts here at the site about how some of you thought it would be hard to get any type of expression or emotion on IM’s face cuz of his helmet, much like the dillema the Spider-Man producers faced, obviously. But it looks to me,based on the end scenes of the teaser, like Spider-Man,SOMETHING happens to IM’s helmet toward the end of the film that exposes his face and allows us to see Stark.

And in regards to Vic’s comment on the teaser being “very hip” to help attract a larger audience,I think he’s right. But it must work tho…does anyone remeber the teasers and trailers for the first Spider-Man? They were ALL hip too…..

SIDENOTE: I’ve had the FLU the past few days which is why I’m a little late coming to this post. Hopefully I’ll be better by this time next week….. :-)

steve adams says:

Good point KEL,(get well soon Bro!).

I loved the scenes in Spider-man when he gets battle-damaged or looses his mask. (Makes the entire movie seem more realistic).

It would be great if in Iron Man we see him getting his mask damaged enough to see his face in a huge battle scene. Reminds me of great gladiator battles where there armor is just being beaten away.
^
^
^
(Going back in time)……..
I allways thought it would have added more realism if during the final battle between Vader and Luke, Luke damages Vader in the same way.
How cool would it have been to see chunks of Darth Vaders suit breaking off and exposing the mechanics underneath.

steve adams says:

Tribble, Screaming!!!
^
Jim this mans a Klingon!
^
Tribble, screaming again…..

Andy says:

Speaking of tribbles, did anyone see the episode of DS9 when they went back in time to the episode with the tribbles and put themselves in among the crew? I loved that episode!!!

steve adams says:

Trials and Tribble-ations. Season 5 episode 6.

That one?
Yea that was a great blend of TOS and Ds9.
Classic Trek!
^
That line , “Jim that man is a Klingon” is from that Epsiode.

Well the Orginal Trouble with Tribbles I mean. :)

KEL says:

Well…Steve…I get where you’re coming from, wih the whole “realistic” realm and all but let’s consider a few things shall we? :-)

1. I like the Spidey films but using the same mask-gets-torn-at-end-of-film gimick (along with villain kidnapping girlfriend) for 3 movies in a row not only got repetetive (mispelled…? sorry),but it also got REALLY annoying and old (not to mention it showed a lack of creativity a bit..sorry).

2. Unlike Spider-Man,Iron Man/Stark NEEDS his suit for powers and to stay alive, whereas if Spidey loses his mask the fight still goes on and he can take as many punches from Green Goblin as his superhuman durability will allow,Iron Man on the other hand, all it takes is one blow from Iron Monger’s super strong armor to Stark’s un protected head and he’s dead.

3.Why in the heck would IM lose his helmet or have it crushed in the first place? Isn’t this the superhero who’s comic book tagline is “the INVINCIBLE Iron Man”? Invincible, right? Surely his armor won’t be broken THAT badly.

4.I know this is rather trivial, but isn’t Parker’s mask breaking in a fight almost the equivelant of Superman’s CK glasses appearing on his face suddenly after being punched by a baddie? No…..? Just thought I’d throw that out there…… :-)

Gotta say tho..that Vader scene woulda been pretty sweet! :-D Maybe we’ll see some of that on the new live action SW series this fall!

steve adams says:

Yea I hear ya KEL, I allways thought it would be kinda funny and cool to start a Spider-man film off where he’s leaving the city with MJ to escape all the crime for a few weeks. When he lands in say Portu Rico he all of a sudden has to fight this NEW super-villian. Of course MJ needs to be rescued. That’s just part of the Spider-man legacy. We have to assume she’s only put in harms way by the real bad villians (the ones in the films).
^
I kinda expect spideys mask to come off during the ending battles.
It seems to ground the character for me anyway…

Iron Man however I’m jusr going by what somebody posted here about his mask armor getting messed up.

I realise he dosnt have super-powers like Parker does. It will be interesting to see how much damage he gets delt in this new film. :)

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

In the comics, IM fought the Hulk and nearly bought the farm. Stark had to create a whole new armor because of the Hulk. It would be nice to see this armor in the film.

GRAHAM says:

JUST SAW IRON MAN TRAILER HERE IN SCOTLAND AND IT LOOKS GREAT.
IF THIS IS A HUGE HIT OF A MOVIE DO YOU THINK MABEY “ROBOCOP” MIGHT GET A WELCOME RETURN TO THE BIG SCEEN?
WITH ALL THE CGI STUFF NOW I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT HOLLYWOOD WOULD HAVE BEEN EAGER TO BRING HIM BACK.
I STILL THINK THAT FIRST ROBOCOP MOVIE IS A CLASSIC. BRING HIM BACK.
