Iron Man 3: Red Snapper & Gemini Space Armor Suits Officially Unveiled

2 years ago by

Now that it’s public knowledge that Iron Man 3 will feature the most Iron Man suits we’ve ever seen, Marvel is taking advantage, releasing officiall images of the “Iron Legion,” two at a time.

Monday saw the official reveals of the Silver Centurion & Shotgun Armors on Marvel’s Facebook pages, followed by the hulkish Igor and Heartbreaker suits on Tuesday, and yesterday, two more familiar designs.

We’ve met the characters, seen the posters, the trailers and even the leaked art and toy images, so what’s left? For the hardcore fans and Marvel Comics readers, it’s all about getting a close look Tony Stark’s new arsenal.

Marvel Studios is now using social media to engage fans and have them answer movie trivia with the ‘Iron Man 3: Armor Unlock’ app, and the rewards – depending on which geographical region has the most correct answers from users – are an exclusive first look at the new armor suits. It began with the “Shotgun” (Mark 40 Hyper Velocity Suit) and “Silver Centurion” (Mark 33 Enhanced Energy Suit), followed by the “Igor” (Mark 38 Heavy Lifting Suit) and the “Heartbreaker” (Mark 17 Artillery Level RT Suit). Now, the official reveal of what was once described as the “Deep Space Armor” and one of the more unique suits from the Hall of Armor:

The official name of the rather unique white and grey Mark 39 may put to rest rumors that Tony Stark may use this suit at the end of the movie (possibly after the credits roll) to meet up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. This rumor stemmed from the timing of leaked toy imagery featuring this suit coinciding with rumors that Iron Man 3 would be used to tease Marvel Studios’ riskiest project to date.

As for the goofier looking armor, its name as the “Disaster Rescue Suit” may hint at the possibility of Pepper Potts suiting up in it, since her armor from the comics is know as the RESCUE and Marvel began advertising what we already knew that Pepper does wear armor in Iron Man 3.

  1. Suited ‘n booted, ready to be recruited!

  2. Well if the mark 39 Gemini is “Sub-Orbital”, doesn’t that mean that it won’t venture into deep space? I’d like to see that connection made with Guardians of the Galaxy, not sure how they would go about it, even if he had the armor.

    • Yep, definately means its not suited for completely leaving Earth’s atmosphere or orbit. But that doesn’t mean that this suit couldn’t have served as a stepping stone to a more advanced space armor…theoretically.

      • Kinda what I was thinking. Stark’s tech tends to advance incrementally. Maybe the Gemini suit is just high altitude experimental tech, like his version of the space shuttle.

  3. I’m still curious about RDJ’s return with Marvel. Are they even negotiating?

  4. that mark 39 looks exactly like some armors in Mass Effect 3

  5. Most Riskiest?

    • Uber riskiest :p

  6. I notice there is a bunch of different shapes for the arc reactor. Some are the traditional circle, some rectangle, some semi triangular. I wonder if that means something about how powerful each suit is

    • The arc reactor is always a circle, the window in the armor has been all kinds of shapes.

    • That’s quasi-true.

  7. “It’s all about getting a close look Tony Stark’s new arsenal.”
“It’s all about getting a closer look at Tony’s new arsenal”

    • Grammar/spelling Nazi Nck, is that you? Nck, I think you misspelled your name…. bruh.

      • I don’t know why my name was misspelled on here. Usually isn’t and Yes, I am the grammar Nazi policia.

  8. Also, Rob, I don’t believe Pepper, or ANYONE for that matter can go into that “Rescue” suit..

    • What do you mean, there aren’t any arm holes?

      • The suit is just called the rescue suit, nothing to do with Pepper and her rescu persona in the comics. When she has the suit in the trailer it loks like Tony’s, it’s like he uses the extremis and sends the suit onto pepper to protect her from the blast, hence the line when pepper says “got you” and he said “got u first” or something of that nature.

        • Yes, the “rescue” armor is a reference to her suit in the comics.

Your other info is widely known by everyone on this site.

          • Its an allusion to the comics, not a direct corrolation

            • Yep. That’s what I’m saying.

        • Noticed that, Loved it. Cannot wait.

  9. Even if the Gemini doesn’t go into “deep” space, I can still hope for him to make something that would allow him to venture into a near-Earth orbit due to paranoia about what he saw during The Avengers.

I don’t know how Star-Lord will find himself in deep space but if he’s part of a near-orbit shuttle launch and happens to pass Stark along the way….

  10. Yes! I’ve been wanting the space armor in a movie! :)

  11. With an entire army of armored suits I can’t see how the heck Tony is going to have any challenge in this movie. So far we’ve seen absolutely nothing from the Mandarin that can combat this kind of firepower.

    • That’s kinda the point right? They’re stacking the deck against Mandarin with the pre-release tidbits and not showing what Mandarin has up his sleeve.

      • Mandarin will have an army of Extremis enhanced soldiers against all of the suits.

        • That part is known from the trailers & other released info. Mandarin himself will have some kind of weapon or other obstacle for when IM gets to him.

    • Speaking of Firepower we haven’t seen anything from him or ColdBlood.

  12. Anxiously awaiting this movie, and hoping the Mandarin does not have a can-opener!

  13. Dang just tell the whole movie LOL!

  14. Is this the last of the armor that is going to be unlocked?

    • I saw somewhere where they released two hand-drawn pictures that are suppose to be for two official Iron Legion suits, the Mark 37 “Hammerhead” deep sea armor and the Mark 25 “Striker” heavy construction armor. But I haven’t seen anymore official release pictures like in these articles.

      • Do you know where because I really liked seeing the different types

  15. I keep imagining Stark grabbing an Extremis enhancile’s head in the Red Snapper claws & squeezing until it pops.
