Iron Man 3 Blu ray Covers Iron Man 3 Blu ray & Agent Carter One Shot Details Revealed

When Marvel Studios and Disney announced the release date for Iron Man 3 on home video and listed its special features there was a noticeable absence in it not listing any original content, specifically a Marvel One-Shot short film. The studio did however, tease that it would feature “more” and rumors and reports indicated that Hayley Atwell had shot a short titled Agent Carter and that it would be attached to Iron Man 3 and appearing at Comic-Con.

We had been told by Louis D’Esposito (Director, Marvel Co-President) back when he directed the Item 47 for The Avengers on home video that he and Marvel were already working on at least two more shorts and star Atwell teased many months ago that she shot something for Marvel for Comic-Con. It’s here now and it is officially coming with Iron Man 3 on Blu-ray.

EW released official artwork and stills for Agent Carter leading up to its Comic-Con debut:

The short follows Atwell’s British agent Peggy Carter still serving the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) after the events of Steve Rogers took an ocean dive at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. Dominic Cooper returns as Tony Stark’s dad and the short serves as a bridge story between Iron Man 3 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, so the timing couldn’t be better. Director Louis D’Esposito talks about the speedy production of Agent Carter:

“First of all it’s a period piece. You have three fight scenes as opposed to Item 47, where we just had basically one action scene. We had five days – one more day than we did on Item 47 but I think it’s double in size. And also the visual style of it, that requires time. So there was pressure on us. I have people looking over my shoulder, looking at the watch saying, ‘Come on, you’re costing us a lot of money!’”

And on what the short is about:

“It’s a year since Cap plunged into the ocean. And in our mind, we said there’s a few SSR offices. If you want to relate it to now, it’s like the OSS, the precursor to the CIA. The SSR is the precursor to S.H.I.E.L.D. There’s some satellite offices in New York and right now their primary concern is getting Zodiac.”

The mysterious Zodiac is something bad, something the villains are protecting. There will be a few other surprise cameos as well and D’Esposito hinted that they are considering including superheroes in future Marvel One-Shots.

  1. Sweet ….

  2. That movie is garbage.

All the extra features in the world, won’t con me into buying that crapfest of a movie.

    • I disagree.

It was one of the most entertaining movies in recent history. That’s my opinion.

      • I also found it very entertaining. I am not a huge Iron Man fan and only went b/c a relative and I were looking for something to do while hanging out, but I enjoyed myself immensely and think that IM3 is terrific. Maybe not a flawless masterpiece (those are very rare), but very good.

    • I found this article very interesting. The writer makes some good points I think we can all take note of, especially this excerpt:

“It seems like we’re losing the ability to articulate into anything other than good or bad. No one seems to care about the nuances within those categorizations.

I still believe in average. Which is what most films are. I still believe you can criticize a movie for its obvious flaws and still say you liked it. We have to stop treating movies like political positions. Movies don’t need to be so vigorously condemned or universally praised. They can be flawed and entertaining like The Lone Ranger. Or stupid and fun like Pacific Rim (sorry Rohan). Or completely mental and still be worth the price of admission, like White House Down.

I hope we can return to the idea of average. The good critics and columnists are the ones who can avoid the knee-jerk reaction to destroy something pedestrian or forgive flaws because the film doesn’t have a “2″ after the title. If every review has to be glowing or glowering, we’re going to end up burnt out at both ends.”

      • well said The Avenger, well said

        and great link.

    • go watch Batman then you DC fanboy. If you hated the movie then why come here to the article about a dvd about a movie you thought was garbage

      • Ignorant buffoon. Who is to say he is a DC fanboy? Could hate superhero movies for all you know.

You, sir, are being a lower make reproductive system of which I cannot say without going into moderation.

I’ll just call you a Richard. That’s what you’re being. A big Richard.

And don’t bother making a smart comeback about the size of said Richard. Not one of us will be pleasured by it.

        • I would imagine no one would want to be “pleasured” by it, in retrospect (hee-hee…just kind of thought I’d throw that in there).

Actually, I will buy the DVD. Just wish all the extras were on the standard DVD which I will buy, rather than solely on the Blu-Ray. Kind of seems like some fans are penalized for not owning a Blu-Ray collection/player.

  3. While the one shot looks pretty cool, no Iron Man 3 on dvd or blu ray for me. One time is enough.

  4. Sounds very cool…. :)

  5. Cool, I can’t wait for this.
    Good work Marvel.

  6. I really enjoy the Marvel One Shots, it’s a neat idea. It just gives fans more to enjoy, kind of like button scenes.

    • I wish I could see the Marvel One Shots…I only buy digital copies of films. But these sound interesting. I tried watching Item 47 on Youtube, but I guess that was just a preview of it, because I didn’t see an action scene. Oh well, life goes on.

  7. O think agent Carter is really hot

  8. I’d love to get Iron Man 3 on DVD but only standard, not blu ray so I’m gonna miss out on the one shots again.

Shame really, might have to find them on youtube and download them or something.

Still no clue why people think the movie is garbage though, probably not mature or intelligent enough to handle the brilliant Mandarin plot twist. Second best movie behind Pacific Rim so far this year in my opinion (Evil Dead coming third).

    • Dazz…

It’s sad that you had to go there. I am more than mature and intelligent for this movie or any other, BUT I still found this movie to be garbage. It was badly filmed (the darkened, hyperactive battle near the end being the most illustrative example). The characters, other than Tony, were fluff or just plain dumb…though the acting was fine (nothing extraordinary, but tolerable). The story and the plotting of that story were jokes…of the lowest caliber. There were no ACTUAL villains in the movie, only one joke (not a problem for me…the twist was fine, though not actually interesting) and one butt-hurt middle schooler…no REAL antagonists. The ONLY aspect of this tripe that I enjoyed was RDJ, himself. He acted wonderfully…as he tends to do. Unfortunately, his acting was nearly enough to save this atrocious mess.

See? I have a reasoned, rational explanation for why I detested IM3…and it doesn’t even involve the twist. This is the only Marvel movie that has outright disappointed, even irritated, me. I came to this thread to read about short which I hope to acquire somehow, since IT sounds like it might be worthwhile…though I will NOT (of course) be wasting money on the main feature. I read the article and was perusing the comments…which were fine UNTIL yours. Your comment about immaturity and lacking intelligence was the ONLY one lacking both maturity and intelligence.

      Such a shame…

      • Sigh… That should be: “was NOT nearly enough”.

    • Dazz, I agree with you re: features only on Blu-Ray. Glad to see I’m not the only one who feels that way. I will be buying the standard DVD without the extra bells and whistles as well.

  9. No clue on why the movie is garbage?

The movie is titled IRON MAN…RDJ doesn’t spend anytime actually in the armor and War Machine doesn’t fire a single bullet.

Plus…”Iron Man” had to have his flat chested girlfriend save him.

    The Mandarin is…Aldrich Killian?!?!??? WTF?!?!!??!

Worst movie of the summer by far.

    • None of those things make the movie objectively bad. You described parts of it, but did not point out any actual flaws. Granted, the Mandarin thing is possibly an understandable deal-breaker for those who feel they cannot tolerate the deviation from the source material, but that is subjective.

    • I just spoke with everyone involved with Iron Man 3 and passed on your concerns. Unfortunately they are more interested in the millions of people who liked the film and the billions of dollars it made the studio.

    • awww…how sad it is that you think breasts are what make a woman, a woman. that’s your complaint about the movie, is that pepper doesn’t look like a fake L.A. plasticized porn star?

      • @jeffro

Hey man, when you’re 15, it’s hard to concentrate on more than what our primal instincts tell us is good. *in caveman voice* Big boobies mean milk for baby!!

When he grows up one day, maybe he might mature enough to realize that isn’t everything. But cut him some slack now, he’s only a child!!!

      • Of course, marked for moderation… *sigh*

Hey man, when you’re 15, it’s hard to concentrate on more than what our primal instincts tell us is good. *in caveman voice* Big b00bies mean milk for baby!!

When he grows up one day, maybe he might mature enough to realize that isn’t everything. But cut him some slack now, he’s only a child!!!

      • @jeffro

Ok, I give up, apparently the comment service screenrant uses hates me and doesn’t want me to comment… Marks half of everything I post for moderation…

      • Guess she just had pepper-corns.

    • @Booger

      “flat chested girlfriend”

And with that, we can tell just how deep of an analysis this was by such a deep and sophisticated person… LMAO!!! :-D

  10. They aren’t even that good of extras, friggin SM1 had more content when it was released on DVD.

  11. Im3 = great movie

Stark has to deal with post-avengers issues(PTSD, paranoia, pepper moves in)
In his paranoid post avengers state of mind he builds damn near 50 suits

After successfully upgrading the arc reactor in im2 and “giving” rhodey the mark2 armor Tony is no longer bothered by s.h.I.e.l.d. or the gov’t which is why he isn’t needed to take on the fake mandarin

The gov’t redesigns the mark 2 after the vanko incident with a new weapons company A.I.M. and we got to see a live action version of Norman osbournes iron patriot armor which by origin just doesn’t stand up to the im or wm armors

Im3 was a live action version of the extremis story..instead of 1 psycho with extremis there’s an army…and instead of tony needing extremis to live they gave it to pepper to involve her more in the plot…

Tony is stripped of his house and left with a prototype mark 42 that just doesn’t work rite yet and forced to find answers….but like tony said smart guys always cover their ass and finally is able to defeat Killian with superior armor designs that lay waste to to the extremis army…

Fake mandarin…people keep bitching about this point but I find it a pro…without magic, fing fang foom, and highly specialized iron man tech the mandarin would have been poorly utilized….Yea they capitalized on putting him in the trailer but I feel like when marvel is finally to reboot Iron Man then that would be a good place to start

The patriot armor being compromised so easily I feel like this shows a good parallel to Tony not wanting the government to get the Iron Man armor seeing how in im2 and im3 the armor is compromised but instead of trusting Tony rhodey takes the armor anyway….which leaves for a climatic final battle

Im3 is a well written movie with a huge build up and a plot driven premise that rdj shines thru…..marvel all day real fan boys can agree

  12. I felt that Agent Carter was one of the many things that made CA:TFA such a well done movie.

    Really looking forward to this.

The IM 3 DVD? Not so much…

  13. Yeah. Damn near 50 suits and we really only get to see 3 or 4 in action.

  14. I hear the short will be around 15 minutes long.

Item 47 was pretty bland, but I’m hoping this one will be better (a longer run-time and two well known, pre-established characters are already a big plus in my books).

    • It already “looks” much better ;)

  15. I surprisingly really enjoyed IM3 (yes, really) and as I do not own either of the first two films yet, I am interested in a trilogy package. I wonder when that is coming.

The other thing is that I do not yet have a Blu-Ray player. It is disappointing that the desirable special feature is not available on DVD. I’ll have to make the switch at some point, but for now, I am out of luck.

  16. I own every marvel movie to date so there is no reason not to get this one!!

I WAS NOT THAT BAD, ppl are still crying about the mandarin thing??? GEEZ ladies grow up!!

BAD IS ONE HOUR PHOTO… if you have seen that then you know what I mean, if not give it a go!! IM3 is a masterpiece compared to that crap fest.

    • You were not that bad? Oh, good to know. Considering you got a 3 minute cameo. A cameo that wasn’t even funny, I might add. No one in my theater laughed.

But maybe that’s because I’m a DC fanboy, right? I am in no way on your level of respect.

Unless you wake up to both Kevin Feige and Joss Whedon and they ask, “Was it good for you?”. In that case, respect opinions and stop making me read your posts in the voice of Gilbert Gottfried. Seriously. You are just that annoying.

    • I loved your Comeo Bruce Banner. Please do more

  17. I will buy the Iron Man 3 DVD, because ya kinda gotta have ‘em all. The action scenes I saw in trailers looked pretty good. However, there were a number of things that sounded a bit convoluted in the plot, chief among them the Mandarin thing, which whizzes me off like a giant kidney. I will still enjoy the GOOD parts, though. As to The Mandarin, I wanted to see a Chinese Mandarin (hang “political correctness or Asian sensitivities!) flying around with power-rings, be they magical or science-based or alien weapons (hang “unbelievability”!!), and I wanted to see a one-on-one slobber-knocker between Iron Man (Tony Stark) and Mandarin (hang anyone who would not launch the chips out of his chocolate chip cookies in sheer joy at this prospect!!!). Instead we got one man’s vision that was so lame if it grew another leg, that leg would be lonely. !@#$%^&*()_+{}”:L>?XXX!
So I will enjoy some parts and have a good time during those, but splat will go whatever snack-food i am eating against the TV set screen when they get to the bad part about The Mandarin. All I can say is, I am looking forward to Doc Savage, I wish Shane Black well. However, marvel should not let him near another marvel movie again, and while if Doc Savage is good I will laud it roundly and sing it’s praises. If it is not, I will rip Shane Black a whole new dimension in his pyche just like I do the guys who wrecked Green Hornet, Dark Shadows, killed off Cyclops, and a host of other unpardonable sins! (–and his supporters, too, so those of you who disagree with me, I suggest you come hunting loaded for bear, and call me the “Yogi” of “Boo-Boos”!).

    • Goldilocks, can I get some of your weed?

  18. IM3 is an average movie and my days of buying DVDs etc of average movies has long gone by. The same goes true for the rest of the movies this summer too.

  19. What a bunch of grundies-peekers! Everyone says they want to see all the Marvel characters’ “shorts”!!!

  20. I don’t even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post
was good. I do not know who you are but certainly you’re going to
a famous blogger if you aren’t already ;) Cheers!

  21. First Superhero movie I did not buy. The Mandarin was too much, great villain made a joke. Would love to see the one shot, but not with this movie.

  22. 10 to 1 Carter = Spitfire!
