If sheer marketing power determined summer movie box office success, then Disney and Marvel Studios are winning the race. We’ve seen the many trailers, TV ads, posters, armor designs, toy details, and more, as Iron Man 3 approaches, aiming launch not only the biggest movie season of the year, but the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

New Iron Man 3 footage will premiere during Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, but for now, we have yet another look at some of the new armor suit designs Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) will command in his next adventure.

We knew early on that Iron Man 3 would draw many of its story elements from Warren Ellis’ Extremis miniseries, but we didn’t know about Stark building an armor of new suit designs until a rumor last year. Leaked images of concept art and tie-in toy lines helped lend credence to the reports before Marvel nipped all the speculation in the bud but revealing the Iron Legion officially in posters and the new trailer.

More recently, the studio took to social media, using Facebook to share a more detailed look at a few of the notable suits, and now those same six new armor designs – and a few others – got another showcase during the Iron Man 3 world press tour stop in Beijing.

Last year we shared the rumor that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) would command not only a new suit or two (or more) himself in Iron Man 3, but that he would lead an army of armored suits. The official Iron Man 3 prelude comics dubbed his expanded Hall of Armor the “Iron Legion” and it wasn’t long before Stark’s minions found their way into the official marketing.
