I thought X-men2 was a success because it balanced the fantastic with the realistic. I can only hope that Iron Man continues with this ideology… and all signs are pointing that way.

To continue my analysis… X-men1 was slightly awkward in trying to find that balance, and X-men3 just forgot to have any realism in it at all(even though it was such a great social question about what you would give up to fit in… it really was sad they couldn’t do more with that).

I just got to thinking about the whole Tony Stark showing up at the end of the Incredible Hulk movie. Tony Stark walks up to General Ross and says THEY are putting a team together, but in the leaked trailer of Iron Man 2, Nick Fury is chasing Tony around trying to talk him into joining the Avengers. I think the Hulk movie is going to be after the whole IM2 and Thor movie, and then right before The Avenger movie if put down on a Time Line.

I think the reason for the problems with X-Men (mainly in X3) are similiar to those that have plagued other Hero films like the 80s Bathmans parts 2 -4 and that is character excess; something that John Faverau was smart enough to not fall into with Iron Man. As for whether the use of 2 villins in IM2 will fall to this same problem, we will have to wait and see. i have faith in Faverau and trust his judgement.
