Never mind. Didn't see your comment about there being three in the first film. Extremis does sound pretty close. The veins coming from his chest piece look like circuitry.
  • Kale
Three suits doesn't seem excessive in my opinion. I mean how many different suit have wee seen since Iron Man's inception. Also the first movie he had three suits. Granted he only wore the Mark I for about five minutes of the film. Same for the Mark II. With the Mark III being the final concept (as far as the first film goes). I'm okay with three suits. More than that would be excessive in my opinion. Unless they were concept ideas he was working on or just on display.

Consider what we have seen in the preview.

A pic of Tony's chest indicating he's getting sick.

At least 2 new suits of Tony's plus War Machine.

Justin Hammer's Roboids, as seen from the photo's above.

    Whiplash...Nuff said.

    Black Widow.

So we can kinda piece together the storyline/dramma.

Tony has put a target on his head by announcing that he is Ironman, hell, he likes showing off. Whiplash has something to prove, and attacks Tony while unprotected. In the meantime the Government is trying to get ahold of the armor, or at least, copy it.. Introduce Justin Hammer.. Rodey, and Tony , AND Pepper, have the drama of romance and friendship. all while Tony has found out he's getting sick from his chestpiece, and has to "evolve" himself to cope.Throw in a few combat scenes and some spywork by Black Widow and Hammer... and top it off War Machine, and Iron battling off the Hammer's robots... ... Now all I have to do is see it..LOL

Extremis eh...they did use elements of that story line in the first movie...hhmmm indeed!
  • ulik
Very interesting about the Extremis thing. Maybe this will help stark survive an attack from Whiplash while being unarmed.Hmmm.

    ****************spoiler*************+++*********

Anyone notice War Machine firing at Iron Man in the trailer?
  • Justin Hammer-created government armor= FIREPOWER

    See about him there

  • Tim "Cloverfield"
Shandling's name in the film is Senator Stern. That was funny. But where is the S.H.I.E.L.D. coffee mug?
  • @Ryan Ferrier

Holy cow, I think you're right about Extremis! I may need to update this article. :)

    Vic
  • this is going to be by far the best comic book adaption to film ever!!!!!!!!!!!oh i hope this pisses off warners and fox!!especially the idiots at fox!!
  • rich
also war machine looks like 10 times cooler and MORE efective than IRON man

he was shooting crap with his mounted machine gun while not even facing them

    BAD ASS
  • rich
tonys triangle uniform has to be directly related to his chest piece veiny poisin looking ailment
  • @Vic

I don't think it could be poisoning or anything like that... the markings are straight-edged like circuitry. The only thing I can tie it to, comics-wise, is Extremis. That seems like it would be a can of worms for a film though, at least this far (early) into the series.
  • M-Cat
I know there are a bunch of different ones like: the Hulkbuster armor that L and L mentioned, Thorbuster, Iron Knight armor, Hydro armor and the Lunar armor.
  • M-Cat
I read Stark would have up to 5 different armors for the Avengers movie but it's all a guess right now.
  • @Luke and Leia

Then again he DID have three in the first film. 8)

    Vic
  • Luke and Leia's Love Child
Three does seem a bit much.

One has to wonder how many he will have in the Avengers film, though. Maybe the Hulkbuster armor for fighting the big green machine!
  • Luke and Leia's Love Child
    Ah, nevermind my posts then...lol
  • Luke and Leia's Love Child
I should note that there are all sorts of pics on that thread. Be sure to scroll to the VERY bottom of the page to see packaged shots of the Iron Man 2 figs. It also has their names on the package.
  • @Luke and Leia

Yeah, actually Kofi pointed out a previous toy post and I've updated the article above to reflect that - although that means he has THREE armors in the movie, which actually seems excessive to me in one film.

  • Luke and Leia's Love Child
Yo Vic, That IM with the triangle chest piece is actually the Mark VI. The Mark V, VI, War Machine and Tactical Assault Drone action figure pics are at this link:

  • M-Cat
too much info guys. does anyone want to go into this fresh or know everything before it happens?
  • Mike J
In the comics Iron Man had a triangle chest plate. It was Maroon and Silver, and didn't last long however. Can anyone photo-shop Terence Howard's face on the War Machine image, just for comparison purposes? Also, what is ED 446 on War Machine's shoulder?
  • Max
    Yeahhhhh....142 days. I noticed the "Mark V" armor while watching it....on the 3rd time...out of 8. :P
  • @Ryan

I'm thinking it's some sort of radiation side effect that will necessitate the creation of something that leads to the triangular chest piece.

    Vic
  • What's going on with the wirey-veiney bits coming from Tony's chest reactor? Extremis? Something to do with Mandarin? Heartburn?
  • @Fallen213

Um, thanks for copy and pasting that list directly from an article over at LatinoReview.com. 8)

Here are some things I noticed from the trailer in no particular order:

    1. Tony still wears nice suits.

    2. Tony made sure that the dancers at his Stark Expo were at least all 'C' cups. See for yourself at the 1:33 mark.

    3. Sam Rockwell shows up for a split second at the 1:27 mark.

    4. Whiplash's basement is a mess. Seriously dude, hire a maid.

    5. Don Cheadle and Scarlet Johansson are in a scene together. Does Rhodey recruit her?

    6. Shot of Don putting the finishing touches on War Machine at the 1:35 mark.

    7. The flying robots that chase Iron Man near the end of the trailer are great at destroying parked cars.

    8. War Machine and Iron Man seem to be fighting at least 5 suits or robots based off of the Stark technology.

    9. I did not see Captain America's shield, nor did I see Steve Rogers frozen under an icecap.

    10. Nick Fury looks angry that he can only see out of one eye.
  • stpau1y
I am thinking that Hammer (who made the war machine armor) decides to go rouge on a government contract to make suits or something like that and Rhodey and Tony have to fight them to save the world. Also you can see Tony flying away from a few Hammersuits (what I am going to call them) before going into the parking garage or tunnel. That is my piece on the story. But I really love the War Machine armor design too, not to keen on the Mark V coloring.
