I was stumped when i saw this as well, Vic.
Is Marvel determined mess up a good thing?
First second-guessing whether or not to keep JF and now this?
Personally, I get the feeling that Marvel thinks its characters are bigger than any one entity involved in its movie creation and that no matter who is involved it will be a hit. Hopefully John F. will keep a good thing going in the right direction.

Don’t worry guys, JFav and RDJ will make sure this franchise gets it right.

That’s the spirit Adrian!
(And no, I’m not talking about that crappy-looking film Frank Miller is doing)

I think the comparison to Favreau is the most instructive here. Nobody would have named him as the guy to do Iron Man right, but he did. I’m sure Mr. Tropic Thunder will do right by the franchise.

Hmmm… It remains to be seen I guess. I’m sure that Jon will show me in a good light! All the best! I’ve got a lot of modifications to get to… -Stark

Liz –

I think the fact that it i possible the new writer could be good is secondary to the mindset Marvel seems to be demonstrating. Why mess with the good combination of writers, director and actors that made the movie such a HUGE success? I mean, this is a half-billion dollar franchise they are toying with.

I think Gary’s right - he must be cheaper. Maybe the team behind the first Iron Man is asking for higher pay after Iron Man went on a rampage at the box office and ended up with worldwide earnings that could destabilize a Third-World economy.

I think that hes going to write the first draft.. Usually the first writer is not the one on the final draft.. Those other guys were brought in afterwords.. Again
I think it might go thru a couple of writers by the time its done.. Maybe hes really quick at doing a draft?

After seeing TDK, Ironman script REALLY needs some think layers, IMHO. I know JFav will see TDK and I hope they bring that deep to IM2. Hope this new writer learns somethings from the brillant script written on TDK.
