It’s been quite a couple of weeks for Iron Man 2: First the ironclad hero graced the cover of Total Film magazine, then we got a handful of new posters for the movie (including an… aesthetically pleasing one of Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow), a new TV spot and a couple of new websites (one for the actual movie and a viral one for the Stark Expo).
But this is Screen Rant and we like to keep you in the loop with all things Iron Man 2. Today Marvel has premiered the first official clip for the sequel, featuring Tony Stark in the Iron Man suit making a not-so-subtle entrance at the Stark Expo. We’ve seen parts of the clip in all the trailers but it’s the first time we’ve gotten to see a full length scene from the movie.
The clip is exclusive to Apple.com for the time being so you’ll have to head over there to watch it (we’ll have it here for you as soon as we can). But for now, head on over and check it out. We’ll wait.
At first I thought Iron Man was being attacked by rockets but then I realized he was accidentally hit with one of the celebratory fireworks . As I said we’ve seen quite a bit of this scene from the trailers (although in some of the trailers it’s looked like the beginning of the scene would be when Pepper Potts drops his mask out of the plane) but it’s good to see it in context.
The clip showcases one of the most refreshing aspects about Iron Man 2 – the fact that everyone knows that Tony Stark is Iron Man. Most other superhero movies keep the “day time” identities of the hero completely separate, with most people not knowing that Peter Parker is Spider-Man or Bruce Wayne is Batman.
But as we saw at the end of the first Iron Man, Tony revealed himself to be the hero and I think that’s a very appealing aspect that sets it apart from other movies in the genre.
What do you think of the first official scene from Iron Man 2?
Iron Man 2 hits theaters on May 7th, 2010.
