I agree with leaving the "kid" out of it. Leave that for your animated projects.
Did anyone else notice (I watched it again the other night) that the terrorist group made mention of the "10 Rings"? I wonder if that was alluding to the Mandarin being the behind the scenes bad guy.
They have said they have "an interesting take" on the Mandarin for the movies so I'm assuming it's not going to be a super powered bad guy but more along the lines of a classic lex luthor type.
A powerful guy in some sort of power position (possibly government) that is secretly trying to maneuver himself into a better global position, etc. which brings him into direct confrontation with Iron Man and then Fury (SHIELD) and then the Avengers? Should be interesting.

They really nailed this one. I don't think they could have picked anyone better to be Tony Stark. Very true to the comic I remember so well. And RDJ's voice? A girl just melts. Very thankful they didn't "kid" this one out; they left the character very much an adult. Can't wait for the next!

Sweet! Mandarin? Awesome! :D I hope they don't touch on Tony's alcohal problem though.

Next year is like '07 all over again (sans Trek) for me. :(

2010 will be all kinds of awesome tho! For me, it goes like this as far as movies are concerned:

1. Green Lantern
2. Iron Man 2
3. whatever other DC film
4. Thor

Bring it on! :D

can't wait for Capt America...

Niall, what's the prob??? ;-)
I watched Iron Man again today, and it just gets better.

It was interesting to see the deleted scenes. They hold a few clues to the overall comic canon, that was edited out of the film.
Btw I felt all the deleted scenes were justifiably deleted.

Great film. 8-)
Can't hardy wait for IM2.

Sounds like LGF's handling of Punisher: War Zone

I was in dire suffering while waiting for Iron Man to be released (film & DVD.) And now that suffering starts all over again. May 2010 is just too far away.

"The reason superhero films [fail] is either the director was unfamiliar [with the] source material or the director chose to depart from it for personal reasons. Another reason is that the studios that had the rights to a particular franchise would never think twice about compromising the source material if thought it would enhance the commercial appeal"

Even worse still is a combination of all three. Once that happens, there's no reason to even have the name of the franchise on the film. I'm pleased to see that there's a director out there who understands this, and respects the source material.

If only more directors felt that way.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! I watched the Iron Man DVD and I think it's gonna be one of my favorite films of all time, much like Batman Begins moved into that position over the last 3 years since its release.
