Netflix launched their corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with season 1 of Daredevil in early 2015, which kicked off their mini shared universe to plenty of critical acclaim and positive responses from Marvel fans. The streaming service followed up the success of Daredevil with the first season of Jessica Jones later that year, while 2016 saw the release of Daredevil season 2 - which introduced Elektra (Élodie Yung) and Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) - as well as Luke Cage season 1. Now, 2017 will be the first year in which Netflix releases three Marvel series; Iron Fist will launch next month, followed by The Defenders team-up miniseries, then the Daredevil spinoff The Punisher.

Netflix has begun to ramp up marketing for Iron Fist since the show is little more than a month away from hitting the streaming service. The most recent trailer played up titular hero Danny Rand (Finn Jones) as the final member of The Defenders to be introduced prior to the team-up series. Now, a new promo highlights Danny as the final Defender, in addition to his other notable attributes.

Marvel debuted the new Iron Fist promo on Twitter, making note that Danny is an orphan, a monk, a billionaire, and - in his role as the Immortal Iron Fist - a living weapon. You can watch the promo above. This new tease of Netflix's Iron Fist helps to highlight the most important attributes viewers will need to know about Danny going into the series. Plus, it breaks down his history of losing his parents and being raised by the monks of K'un Lun, before returning to New York City to take control of his father's company.

Iron Fist - Danny in K'un Lun

Danny Rand will be joined in Iron Fist by fellow Marvel Comics characters Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick), Harold Meachum (David Wenham) - plus Harold's children Joy (Jessica Stroup) and Ward (Tom Pelphrey) - and Zhou Cheng (Lewis Tan)Iron Fist will additionally include characters that have appeared in other Marvel Netflix series, like Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Madame Gao (Wai Ching Ho). The series will also feature The Hand, a villainous organization introduced in Daredevil season 2, of which the Immortal Iron Fist is an enemy.

While the new Iron Fist promo doesn't feature too much in the way of new footage, it does offer plenty of focus on Danny Rand's superhero power. He channels it through his glowing yellow fist, destroying an entire room and blasting back his opponents in the final shot of the teaser. But, for the most part, this new promo works to highlight Danny Rand as the hero of Iron Fist, introducing the character to casual Marvel TV viewers by way of connecting him to The Defenders.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether Iron Fist will garner the same amount of critical praise as fellow Marvel TV releases Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage. The series has already garnered criticism for its casting of Danny Rand, while fans have additionally been wary of how Marvel will adapt a character that was created in the 1970s. Still, Marvel and Netflix have found success with all three of their series up to this point, so fans can likely expect another well-crafted show when Iron Fist debuts next month.
