Iron Fist season 2 will see Danny Rand don a more classic costume, if the show's star gets their way. It’s fair to say that, so far, the collaboration made between Marvel and Netflix has been a hugely successful one. To-date, we’ve seen two seasons of Daredevil on the streaming service, along with a single season for Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, both of which have been commissioned for a second. However, Iron Fist season 1 earned a far-less friendly critical reception than its predecessors did, despite being second to only Luke Cage in terms of viewership.

That said, even who did enjoy the first season of Iron Fist's solo series couldn’t hide their disappointment when they came to realize that the classic Iron Fist comic book costume would not be a part of their viewing experience. Though it irked fans, it shouldn’t have come as too much of a surprise after a debut season of Daredevil without an official outfit reveal until the very final episode; not to mention, the villainous Kilgrave (David Tennant) only "appearing purple" once through his run in Jessica Jones. That could all be about to change for Iron Fist, however.

While a second season of Iron Fist has yet been commissioned by Netflix, it’s something that lead actor Finn Jones (who plays Danny Rand) is looking ahead to, in the hopes that the series will get the go ahead in the near future. If it does indeed get ordered, Jones has some ideas about what to expect from his character’s look (from his appearance on the HHWLOD podcast):

“I think moving forward to Season 2, we’ll see something like that [the classic costume]. Personally I hope we get the wispy kind of ripples at the back of the mask. That’s a super cool effect. I think it would actually be annoying, the logistics of it but I think it would look really cool.”

Jones’ words here seem to confirm that while he’s hopeful to see the traditional costume in the future, we shouldn’t get our hopes up for an appearance in the upcoming Defenders miniseries. His words suggest he’ll look more like the Danny Rand we saw in Iron Fist than the one we’ve read in comics, when The Defenders team up for the first time on the small screen.

Bringing the Iron Fist costume to the small screen is certainly something that should impress those watching, but a twist on the outfit may be a wiser move, rather than ripping the one straight from the pages of comic books. The costume here has to be practical, as Danny Rand is living in a real world viewers are supposed to be able to relate with, so a huge neck piece may not be the best direction to head in if Rand is to be engaged in various big action battles.

Daredevil seasons 1-2, Jessica Jones season 1, Luke Cage season 1 and Iron Fist season 1 are all available now on Netflix. The Defenders arrives on August 18, with new spin-off The Punisher set to follow later in the year, following the character’s success in Daredevil. Premiere dates for new seasons of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage have not yet been revealed.
