This is something you must watch!
The new international trailer for James Cameron’s long-awaited 3D “masterpiece,” Avatar, has made its way online and you can check it out here. It’s in English but there are non-English subtitles. The official release of the domestic version happens tomorrow morning at 10:00am pacific time.
No more talking, check out these three-and-a-half minutes of awesome after the jump.
Not everyone was 100% sold from the first trailer for Avatar, but perhaps this trailer may sway those skeptics over. This promo focuses on more of the human element and story structure which will help connect with mainstream moviegoing audiences.
Watch and enjoy:

EPIC!
I’m biased because I love James Cameron’s previous works and because I was treated to nearly half an hour of footage while at San Diego Comic-Con. So, needless to say, I’m very pumped for this flick. This trailer does however, give away a lot of the film’s story and setup, and I imagine they had to reveal as much in such a lengthy trailer because a lot of regular folks (who don’t read Screen Rant) simply had no idea what the film is about.
After seeing this, they sure as hell do now. Don’t fret if you feel spoiled, I expect there’s some unexpected twists and turns from Avatar waiting us because Cameron emphasized that in the marketing, they’d be saving a lot back for the actual theatrical release.
Did any of you get that 300 vibe from Sam Worthington’s character towards the end?
What do you think of the new footage?
Avatar stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez and Giovanni Ribisi. It opens December 18, 2009 and we’ll be there.

Around the web:

Oh, one thing I want to add, thank goodness James Cameron hasn’t bought into that whole shaky cam fighting crap, I love being able to actually SEE the action, not just random arms and legs moving around with sound effects…
Im sure Screenrant will have the HD trailer for Avatar tomorrow right?? Or atleast a link to it. We need to convert everyone here to Avatarism! ; )
making of with tons of new stuff

Heres my idea for what i think the big plot twist and sequel tease will be:
Human Jake gets killed by the humans for “going native,” and because of his time spent in the avatar, his mind imprints on it giving him a new or separate conscience. Thus forth he gets his legs back and becomes leader of the blue furry clan…oh and gets to yiff with his girlfriend as much as he pleases
Sequel time
…btw i do kidd, im pumped for this movie. I rag on it cause i love it haha
Trailers mean nothing. The worst film in the world can have a great trailer, Spiderman 3 is a prime example of that, the trailer looked great and we all know what was eventually delivered.
This really doesnt excite me, and thats a shame because I am a huge fan of Cameron’s work, but this just isnt anything to me. Not say i wont go and see it, but at this point my christmas cinema outing will be Sherlock Holmes, not this.
Evan says: “I think the story (as portrayed in the trailer) is rather formulaic”
It’s warmed up leftovers. Did anyone else notice the paint schemes ripped out of 21ST Century Foss? I like cotton candy as much as the next person but this rip of Tecumseh is just average story wise.
P.S. being generous here it’s Final Fantasy.
@ the old man
I think you’re being a little too generous, I prefer Final Fantasy =]
You know, all this time Cameron was raving about the new technology and how this was going to be the motion picture event of the decade and I was getting kinda worried that that was all it was going to be and the actual movie may just be mediocre.
If he delivers what this trailer promises then those worries would have been for nothing. I can’t wait for this movie.
Well Aaron if you mean the movies by that title, I agree. However to be sure I’m comparing genres. This as opposed to hard Science Fiction…
After seeing the first trailer online in HD I was kind of impressed. It just looked like a damn good sci-fi film. However, I went to see The Final Destination 3D (don’t bother) and all the trailers and ads were in 3D including the first Avatar teaser.
The difference it makes can’t be understated. Jaw dropping, it really is.
Someone in an earler post, on this thread, stated that they wanted to see it, first in 2D then in 3D.
That’s a fantastic idea. If you can wait that is.
I don’t know if I could. Roll on Dec.
The main reason I’ll give this a miss, I live in London, and going to see a 3D film costs nearly £20, it shouldnt cost anymore than a normal movie. I’m going for Sherlock Holmes, will be more fun, and make more money i’m willing to bet.
@DrSamBeckett
How much would it cost for you to go to a cinema just outside of London? My sister lives in Maidenhead and for her it only costs around £10 for a 3D movie.
And the reason it costs more is to compensate for the cost of the glasses and the 3D projectors.
Yeah but in doing that, you have to figure in transport costs, honestly though, im sure it will be a big event movie that is worth seeing but nothing i have seen so far makes me want to part with my hard earned cash
Yeah I figured that, but a subway ride to the outskirts of London don’t cost that much (though I haven’t rode the London subways in a while), could prove cost effective enough.
But I guess if you’re not too bothered about the film then there’s no point.
I wanted to be bothered by it though, thats the problem, and I’m not ruling out seeing the movie at all. Its just not the one i really want to see this winter.
DrSamBeckett, tickets for a 3D film at that BFI IMAX next to Waterloo Station are usually £13.50-£15. It’s only on all-nighters they start going up to and over £20.
Rocking! Epic! I love James Cameron!
This trailer makes more sense than the first one did… Looks good, even if it’s over hyped. This will be an awesome movie, no doubt, but, it’s gonna need some work on the CGI to really impress me. This looks like standard gamer CGI to me… I’ll definately check out the HD tomorrow, and catch this in 3D!
@ Ken,
Well, I didn’t choose the Dec release
Looks great. And I’m looking forward to seeing it.
did anybody listen to that stupid dialogue
“people, you asre not in kansas anymore, you’re on pandora
That’s kinda cliche. Don’t get me wrong, im REALLY looking forward to this movie but I think we all need to lower our expectations a bit
This is just a prediction-b 500 million worldwide.
people are expecting a billion but i doubt it
WOW, I wasn’t really buying into the hype for this movie, but I am now.
God I wish James Cameron was directing the Warcraft movie.
That was E P I C!!
wow holy crap that was amazing.
awsome.
Oh, wow! Absolutely awesome!
WOW All fears assuaged. I am in super hyper freak out excited mode for this movie now.
Okay you got me to budge from I am not going to see this until DVD to now I will see this if I can get in for free. Just doesn’t look that impressive other than the graphics.
@nick…
I’m sorely tempted to put on my “box office predictor” cap and give my rather detailed analysis about how Avatar will fare during the very crowded Christmas Day weekend (at least a half dozen new films will debut on Christmas Day), along with the other films which will be in wide release on the weekend before Avatar’s opening weekend.
So … here goes, and keep in mind that I’m just making educated guesses. I could be terribly wrong about all of this, y’know.
Now … as much as I love RDJ … Sherlock Holmes won’t make too much of a dent in Avatar’s box office on Christmas weekend, because the multiplex will be rather crowded, and that could seriously dilute the audience. I think Avatar might lose 30% of the box office on Christmas weekend, but that drop might not be enough to cause it to be ousted from first place at the end of Christmas weekend (keep in mind that this is an educated guess, though).
Also … if positive word of mouth and positive Tweets about Avatar come out just before Christmas weekend, it’s highly possible that Avatar could have a strong box office run well into mid-to-late January of 2010, at the very least.
I loved the beginning section explaining how the natives were on a natural resource that the humans need. It kind of reminds me of americans vs. native americans and all that jazz, but hey. Between this and the first trailer and the comic-con footage I feel like I’ve seen half of the movie. Still can’t wait!
