The marketing campaign leading up to the sequel to 2013's Injustice Gods Among UsInjustice 2, is still going strong, now providing us with a third cinematic trailer. The first and second trailers both teased the new (and continued) conflict that will drive the plot of the game, along with an abundance of character teases. Injustice 2 is boasted to sport the largest roster in the history of fighting games, so there are a lot of characters to feature. This time around, the story centers on Supergirl, showing a story fairly similar to her traditional origins story, followed by some insane Kryptonian action.

Since Supergirl is a new character in Injustice 2, she didn't have a part in the plot of Injustice: God's Among Us, but it looks like she will try to be a positive influence on her cousin's more totalitarian ideals that drive him to believe the people need to be saved "from themselves." Whether this will help bring him to his senses or lead to a civil war in the house of El remains to be seen, but so far it looks like she's going to be the shining beacon of hope in this story.

Black Adam looking down with smoke around him in Injustice

The highlight is obviously Kara's clash with Black Adam. This is a cinematic trailer, so we still don't know what his power set will look like in-game, but the Injustice 2 marketing definitely isn't shying away from showing his potential. After the impressive super moves seen from the likes of Firestorm and other characters, it wouldn't make sense to have Black Adam's powers appear less impressive. Hopefully, his massive lightning blast in this trailer is just a taste of what we'll see from him in-game.

In addition to hyping the story for Injustice 2, this trailer's use of Black Adam provides an excellent preview of what people can expect from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's Black Adam movie. Aside from the story potential we've covered in the past, this is a character whose powers can look amazing on-screen, and this interpretation of the character could also be very well served with Johnson's portrayal. DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns has cautioned fans against making too many comparisons between games like Injustice and the DC Extended Universe movies, but this Injustice 2 trailer nonetheless illustrates the potential in a character like Black Adam.

With a couple months to go until the game's launch, there could be a significant number of character teases and reveals on the way, as we've already seen a steady stream of reveals for a number of weeks - and marketing is only liable to get more frequent, as the May 16th release date approaches.
