As the weeks tick by, gamers come ever closer to getting their hands on Injustice 2, the follow-up to critically-acclaimed NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment collaboration Injustice: Gods Among Us. Seeing the success that the original game garnered, it was only a matter of time before a follow-up was given the green light, and now we’re just a couple of months away from its release.

Promising the biggest playable roster of DC superheroes and villains there has ever been in a DC video game, Injustice 2 looks to break the mould in more ways than one; delivering an immersive and interactive experience with a story that follows an upcoming comic book Injustice prequel series. In it, gamers will be forced to go up against the Man of Steel himself, as Batman puts together an unlikely team in a bid to stop Superman’s regime from destroying the planet (and all who live on it) forever.

Today, one of the game’s playable characters has been showcased in a newly-released trailer, with Cheetah stepping into the spotlight and showing off what she brings to proceedings. As a newcomer to the series, the teaser serves as one of the first experiences fans will have with the antagonist, as she fights against Wonder Woman and a slew of other combatants. Watch it above.

Not only do we get to see Cheetah slash her way through the video, but we see an environmental move where the Batwing is used as a weapon, as well as the broken tusk from the statue of an elephant. Cheetah’s Power Move is also delivered, where she uses her sharpened claws to deliver heavy damage – before smashing her feet down on the spine of the Amazonian Princess. It’s (literal) bone-shattering stuff.

Injustice 2 Cheetah Injustice 2: Cheetah Battles Wonder Woman in New Trailer

Those who may have worried Cheetah would be too similar to Catwoman in Injustice 2 should rest assured that their play styles are for the most part completely different, after watching this video. Though they both use their claws to get the best of their enemies, the effort that’s gone into making each fighter unique shines through.

That’s not to say Cheetah is without her concerns. When compared to some of the other characters that have been revealed, her fighting style looks a little simplistic and uninventive, especially when it comes to her Power Move. It’s good to have simple brawlers in games of this type for those who simply want to mash some buttons and put together some great combos. That said, now there’s the chance Cheetah could fade into the shadows instead of being given the shot she deserves, by those who pick up the game.

Injustice 2 arrives on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 16, 2017.
