NetherReal Studios and Warner Bros./DC continue to build buzz for Injustice 2 on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis, ahead of the video game sequel’s release this summer. Available on consoles, computers, and mobile devices, the first installment in the Injustice franchise has been a hit with fans and critics. The story of the first game has also been expanded upon in the Injustice comics, offering an even deeper dive into the dark story.

Just last week, we got our second story trailer for Injustice 2, teasing the arrival of longtime friends Green Arrow and Green Lantern – characters who have yet to cross paths in the Arrow TV universe aka. the Arrowverse, much less the big screen. Now, another Arroverse veteran has been revealed as part of the ongoing Injustice 2 marketing campaign.

YouTube channel UpUpDownDown got the first look at said new character revealed for the Injustice sequel. Above, you can see the vide of their tour of the NetherRealm Studios, where UUDD get to sit down and battle using Firestorm. Facing off against Doctor Fate from Injustice 2, Firestorm looks to be based on the Jason Rusch version of the character. While only teased in the Arrowverse, he’s one of many people to wield the Firestorm matrix in the comics. Naturally, the character looks to boast plenty of nuclear firepower, including his hellish Supermove and a blue-flame power-up.

Firestorm is just one of the many characters that will be available for play in Injustice 2. Ahead of his premiere in the Justice League movie, Cyborg will be playable. DC will also bring a number of their female heroes and villains to life, as we’ve already seen videos for Supergirl and Black Canary, as well as Poison Ivy and Catwoman in Injustice 2. Things will also get dark as Swamp Thing and the Watchmen are confirmed to appear. Even more wild, but Spawn and Sub-Zero may just make the jump into the game. On top of the core JL members and some popular villains, that’s already a pretty diverse roster. We are likely to get even more reveals in the coming weeks, too.

For fans looking for even more Firestorm, you can of course catch the Jefferson Jackson version of the character each week on Legends of Tomorrow. For those hoping to see the return of Ronnie Raymond to the Arrowverse, never fear. Raymond pops up on The Flash this week, in what looks to be a mind-bending episode. As Injustice 2 approaches its release date, we’ll bring you all the news and reveals that emerge surrounding the game.

Injustice 2 will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16, 2017.
