The Flash's lightning fast abilities and time traveling finishing move are fully on-display in the latest trailer for Injustice 2. Reimagining most of DC's biggest and best heroes and villains, Injustice 2 allows players to take control of the various DC characters and utilize an astonishing number of unique abilities, as well as powerful Supermoves. On the hero side, we've already seen what the likes of Green Lantern, Firestorm, and Doctor Fate will be able to do, but the villains will be just as fun. Early looks at Catwoman have teased her joining with the Gotham City Sirens, while Bane and Scarecrow will be working alongside Captain Cold.

Last week, we also got to see Gorilla Grodd's new evil alliance in Injustice 2, and it looks like that will cause a lot of trouble for the heroes of the game. In the comics and on TV, Grodd has long been a rogue of Barry Allen, pitting his raw strength and psychic mind against the speedster. Now, players will get to watch the two characters clash again in video game form, when Injustice 2 arrives.

The latest Injustice 2 gameplay trailer features The Flash, putting him up against the great ape himself via combat. While super-speed is difficult to pull of in a video game, the designers have done a great job reworking the Flash's quickness into a number of exciting moves. Mostly, it looks like his speed will manifest as a series of quick combo attacks and dodges, with one particularly engaging move appearing as a series of hits that don't actually impact the opponent - until after the Flash has delivered them.

The best part here is The Flash's Supermove, which lets him travel through time and smash his opponent against various historical figures, ranging from a T-Rex to the Sphinx statue—proving once and for all how it lost its nose. This Injustice 2 video then finishes with the Flash attacking his foe with a past version of himself. Now that's inventive.

It's also worth noting the Flash's new costume. While adding some embellishment, it looks closer to the comic and TV version than the more armored Flash costume featured in the upcoming Justice League movie. Interestingly, the film costume drew comparisons to Flash's look from the previous Injustice game when it first debuted. As the premiere of this new game approaches, expect a few more looks at the Scarlet Speedster and his allies.
