A brand new clip from Marvel's Inhumans sees Medusa contacting Black Bolt when she gets to Earth. The series focuses on the Royal Family of Attilan as they face a coup from one of their own, Maximus (Iwan Rheon). Black Bolt and his family flee to Earth, and take their place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although a MCU film was initially planned for Black Bolt and Medusa, the series has debuted in its place.

In the Inhumans TV series and the original comics, Maximus is the brother of Black Bolt and feels that he could rule Attilan in a better way than his elder sibling. We've also seen that he's jealous of his brother's relationship with Medusa (Sarinda Swan) - although Medusa clearly doesn't feel the same way. While Iwan Rheon is best known for his role as Ramsay Bolton on multiple seasons of Game of Thrones, Maximus won't be as villainous by comparison. In fact, he doesn't actually see himself as a villain at all.

A new clip from the series shows Medusa trying to contact her husband when they both arrive on Earth. The Royal Family leave their home on the Moon after Maximus attempts to take control of Attilan. After she uses her prehensile hair to stop Maximus, Medusa is shaved, rendering her powers useless. However, this scene illustrates the emotional connection between the two, as Black Bolt finds a way to communicate to his wife that he's okay without using his voice. He holds his communicator to his heart, signalling to Medusa that he's made it out unharmed.

While this scene might show off a tender moment between Black Bolt and Medusa, the rest of the Inhumans premiere episode hasn't been well-received, following the start of its limited run in IMAX theaters. Still, with many fans praising The Defenders and other Marvel/Netflix TV shows, it's perhaps a wonder that Marvel TV is still pushing its ABC TV shows as its main hub. (Case in point: Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb continues to assert that ABC is the 'Mothership' for Marvel TV and will remain as such, until further notice.)

We had already been introduced to the Inhuman gene and the Terrigen mists in the MCU via Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - another Marvel TV show on ABC. It arguably would have made sense for Black Bolt and the rest of the Inhumans to debut on S.H.I.E.L.D. first before giving them a series of their own, without a proper introduction to the MCU beforehand. Showrunner Scott Buck has teased that a direct crossover between S.H.I.E.L.D. and Inhumans is a real possibility, in the future. It's just a shame that it hasn't happened already, as a means of ensuring that Inhumans got started on the right foot with the Marvel TV fanbase.
