super mario bros SR Pick [Video]: Inglourious Plummers

As Screen Rant readers may be aware, this Friday, Quentin Tarantino’s highly anticipated film Inglourious Basterds bludgeons its way onto theater screens in what is sure to be a bloody, violent (if not dialog heavy) film. What you may NOT be aware of, is that before Tarantino came along, Mario did it first, using his plunger of Justice to crack some Koopa shell!

The guys over at Gamer Vision have put together a humorous Inglourious Basterds parody video involving Toadsworth as Brad Pitt (funny mustache and all), Mario, Luigi, Toadstool and the Princess playing the parts of the Basterds and Koopa and his henchman playing the parts of the Nazis. Well done guys! Check out the video below.

My favorite scene was Mario running through the tunnel shooting fireballs out of his hands – good stuff! Actually, the video makes me wonder if a hardcore action film of Super Mario Bros. isn’t well over due? Make it a little dark, a little brooding and for goodness sake, leave Dennis Hopper out of it!

Are you looking forward to watching Inglourious Basterds and what do you think about a more up-to-date darker version of Super Mario Bros.?

Inglourious Basterds opens August 21st, 2009.

  1. I’ve read some early reviews of IB, and it sounds bizarre and comical.
How funny will it look of District 9 beats Basterds this coming weekend. Oh man I sure hope so!

  2. I’m looking forward to seeing Basterds and hope to see it do well. But I also enjoyed District 9 and would like to see it at least come in second place at the box office this week so they’ll think about a sequal.

  3. I’m excited to see bastards, but this was funny as hell. I love when he says ” Doing one thing Killing Koopas” and they go “lets a go”

  4. I (and a few other people I know) still want to see a Super Mario Bros. sequel… They set it up for one, and as a kid, I always wanted to see one… It’s not as bad as people make it out to be. In fact, it’s probably at least the second or third best video game adaptation we have so far, if not the best (which I think it is), though I may get flamed for saying so.

  5. Super Mario Bros, really had little to do with the game, but is was a fun film. Its not a guilty pleasure but I remember liking it because of the story and cast. ;-)

  6. If you want something with the mario brothers in a darker atmosphere…

    It’s quite good.

  7. @paul young
i was reading this autobio from John Leguizamo (favorite hispanic actor also was luigi… Favorite plumber) and he said that before hollywood touched it super mario bros was supposed to look like what nolan (B.B & TDK) would have made it look like had he been the director. As in it was more adult themed and much more realistic, dark and gritty but hollywierd is all about the money. Still would have been cool to see it happen back then though…

  8. I love have people love to say Hollywood is all about the money when they release bad films. It’s such a nice way of saying they have bad taste. The all about money thing doesn’t apply since they don’t always make money off their bad choices.

  9. @daniel f
i like super mario bros as it was… i was just quoting him from the book (Pimps, Ho’s, Playa hatas, and all the rest of my hollywood friends… my life John Leguizamo) not that i’m saying you directed that directly at me but when i say hollywood is about the money is when they make sequels just to milk the cow as much as they can (but from a business point of view i completely understand).

    Just sayin…

  10. Was more directed at the liberal use of the term by the general populace and less at you.
